Books, Movies and TV Shows I’m Looking Forward to in 2023!

The best part of a brand new year is knowing all the new things that are THAT much closer to you. All those movies and tv shows and books that said COMING 2023 felt so far away but now it’s 2023 and they’re almost here! There are lots of great things coming this year and here are some of the ones I’m most looking forward to!

I’m sure there are SO many more that I’m missing so if you notice one that should be on there, let a nerd girl know!

Holiday Romance Movies Aren’t Good…But That’s Okay!

It’s that time of years, guys. Christmas! Hanukkah! Kwanzaa! Winter Solstice! ALL THE GOOD THINGS!

And while everyone is gearing up for the end of the year and whatever that might entail for you, everyone is also fighting that one little devil that seems to appear every winter when the days get shorter and the nights get colder – SAD. Oh yeah. Seasonal affective disorder. I live in California, ostensibly one of the sunniest and warmest of states and it still hits me hard every single year. Add that in with the stress that comes with the end of the year like presents and spending time with family and I’m usually a total mess during this time of year.

So how do I deal with that?

Well, I watch as many holidays movies as I possibly can!

My Super Late Review of Netflix’s Adaptation of “Along for the Ride”

Along for the Ride is easily  one of my top ten favorite books of all time and so when I heard Netflix was doing an adaptation – I was beside myself with excitement. I think Netflix has done a great job adapting some really great YA novels like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and Dumplin’ and even with Shadow and Bone/Six of Crows. I really had a lot of faith in this adaptation. I think that young adult contemporary novels tend to translate better into film and so I was so excited. Nervous, of course, because it’s my favorite Dessen novel and just plain one of my favorite books ever.

I’ve now watched the Netflix movie about four times now and I think its more than past time for me to finally post my review and thoughts!

First Thoughts on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (Warning: Spoilers!)

Happy Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Day!

Even though its only been a handful of months since we had our Marvel appetites satisfied with the most recent Spiderman movie, I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say that fans were anxiously awaiting the release of this movie. This movie had its hands in so many previous MCU stories, like the first Doctor Strange movie, Wandavision and What If… and there were so many rumors and speculation on what would happen and who would appear.

Sara’s Must Watch Christmas Movies!

Guys, its Christmas time!! It has taken awhile for me to get into the Christmas spirit – it just hasn’t FELT like Christmas – but I’m here. I work at a theme park, where its been Christmas since the beginning of November so maybe that has had an effect but I’ve been binge watching Christmas movies the past few days, I have mostly finished my Christmas shopping AND we finally decorated the apartment.

So I think, finally, it feels like Christmas!

Second Time’s a Charm? Vampire Academy Optioned for TV Through Peacock!

Some unexpected news hit my Instagram feed today – one of my favorite book series in the world (check the molnija tattoo) is coming to the screen once again. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead has been picked up by the streaming service Peacock, thanks to Vampire Diaries alums, Julie Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre aka Sheriff Forbes herself. This comes on the heels of the successful adaptation of Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone series on Netflix (can we announce season two already?), leading this nerd girl to believe we’ll start to get more of these announcements soon, just like the good ol’ Twilight days.
