One of my absolute favorite books in 2019 was American Royals by Katharine McGee. I love any kind of story with contemporary royals and I knew that this was a book I needed to read and it ended up even better than I could have expected. It truly blew my mind and I’m still thinking about it nearly two years later. It was truly such a fantastic book. So this Waiting on Wednesday is all about the sequel, Majesty, that I’ve been dying to get my hands on since.

Is America ready for its first queen?
Power is intoxicating. Like first love, it can leave you breathless. Princess Beatrice was born with it. Princess Samantha was born with less. Some, like Nina Gonzalez, are pulled into it. And a few will claw their way in. Ahem, we’re looking at you Daphne Deighton.
As America adjusts to the idea of a queen on the throne, Beatrice grapples with everything she lost when she gained the ultimate crown. Samantha is busy living up to her “party princess” persona…and maybe adding a party prince by her side. Nina is trying to avoid the palace–and Prince Jefferson–at all costs. And a dangerous secret threatens to undo all of Daphne’s carefully laid “marry Prince Jefferson” plans.
A new reign has begun….
WHY I’M WAITING:
Like I mentioned above, I absolutely love any kind of story with royalty and I especially love stories with contemporary royalty. I think that was born out of my deep deep love of The Princess Diaries, which I read twenty years ago, and still continues today. I love Rachel Hawkin’s Royals and I absolutely loved the first book of this series. I think I loved it even more because it was American royalty. It was an alternate version of our history and I was so intrigued by it. I was a history major in college, with a focus on American history. So the idea that George Washington accepted a crown instead of a president and the American royal line began – omg that makes the history nerd in me just go nuts. It was also an incredible story with really amazing characters and truly it was one of my favorite books of last year. It ends on such a cliffhanger, on such a huge emotional level and I remember finishing it and going, there’s just no way that this is the end, it can’t be the end, omg, someone please give me the new book. So to say that I’m merely just waiting for this book to come out is a total and complete understatement.
