I’ve Been Watching One Tree Hill for the First Time…

And guys, I’m kind of obsessed.

One Tree Hill is like most teen dramas of the time, telling the chronicles of several teenagers in Tree Hill, North Carolina, mostly Lucas and Nathan Scott, half brothers who have basically hated each other their entire lives.

Here’s the thing – One Tree Hill was one of the many dramatic, soap opera-esque tv show that came out during my formative teen years and I tended to really love those shows, even as I progressed into my twenties. I’m talking The OC, Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl, the new 90210, Greek and so on. But for some reason, One Tree Hill was never one that I watched and once I kind of realized what it was, it felt too late to watch it.

Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Stage Adaptation – A Review!

So awhile back, feels like an eternity, I discovered the Winnie the Pooh musical on Instagram and immediately started following them. This show looked absolutely adorable – the puppets – and I was jealous that I could not see it. Slowly the show has been touring in other locations and I was beyond excited when they announced they were coming to California and I could finally see it!

The show is playing at the small but intimate Kirk Douglas theatre in Culver City. I love that area of Culver City, mostly for the epic all romance bookstore, The Ripped Bodice. My husband was the one who got us the tickets, up in the balcony, which sounds a lot higher than it was because, as I said, it was a small theater.

Holiday Romance Movies Aren’t Good…But That’s Okay!

It’s that time of years, guys. Christmas! Hanukkah! Kwanzaa! Winter Solstice! ALL THE GOOD THINGS!

And while everyone is gearing up for the end of the year and whatever that might entail for you, everyone is also fighting that one little devil that seems to appear every winter when the days get shorter and the nights get colder – SAD. Oh yeah. Seasonal affective disorder. I live in California, ostensibly one of the sunniest and warmest of states and it still hits me hard every single year. Add that in with the stress that comes with the end of the year like presents and spending time with family and I’m usually a total mess during this time of year.

So how do I deal with that?

Well, I watch as many holidays movies as I possibly can!

Things I’m Loving Right Now!

Hello my friends! It’s been quite awhile since I’ve been on the blog. To say that I’ve been dealing with a lot would be an understatement. I’ve been dealing with a lot of grief, having lost both of my grandmothers within about a month of each other. Both of my cats got sick within a couple weeks of each other. I learned a new attraction and have been training to be a trainer on my home attraction. I’ve been sick and overworked and burnt out and I’ve been struggling.

But I miss you guys. And I miss this blog and I miss sharing the things that I love with you all and I miss coming here and getting to talk and talk about nerdy things.

So here I am. It’s been over a month but I’m happy to be back. I wanted to jump back into blogging by just sharing some of the things that I’ve been really loving lately. A lot of these things are the things that have been keeping my head above water during these rough times.

No One Teaches You How to Grieve

No one ever teaches you how to deal with grief.

You just sort of have to deal with it. And everyone keeps telling you that there are no right or wrong answers to how you react when someone passes away but it’s hard not to look around you at those who are experiencing the same grief and compare yourself. Should you be acting like them? Are you sad enough? Are you grieving enough? It’s confusing, on top of an already very overwhelming time.

Nerd Girl Interview with Author Bridget Morrissey!

Guys! I am so beyond excited for todays post because it’s an interview with an awesome person and an equally awesome author! It’s been a long time since I’ve had an interview on the blog and I’m so stoked that Bridget is the one to be bringing them back.

I read Bridget’s most recent release, A Thousand Miles, and fell absolutely in love. It has everything that I love – best friends who fall in love, road trips, weird food and even baseball. When I discovered how cool Bridget is during my constant praise of this book, I just knew I HAD to have her here on the blog.

And unsurprisingly, the interview just made me adore her more, especially once we bonded over our love for early 2000s pop punk and emo music, like Something Corporate. Anyone who shows love for SoCo is my kind of person!

So let’s do this guys!
