Let’s Talk About…Nerd Ink

Let's Talk About

So its not secret that tattoos are a big part of my life.

As of a couple weeks ago, information pills I am now up to ten, ampoule nine of which are fandom related.

Now, I know a ton of people that understand. They understand the urge to get a tattoo. They understand that the feel of the needle and that sort of lotion-y inky smell is just brilliant. They understand that there is something amazing about staring down at a permanent piece of artwork on your body that represents something close to you. I feel beautiful with my tattoos.

Now there are also people that don’t, which is why I want to share this post with you all. Myself and a few others have elected to share their tattoos and why they got them. It may not necessarily change your mind on them, and I don’t really expect it to.

But there are reasons that we all get these on our skin. Some people might not understand that. But when I read a book, something about it changes me. It may be a bad thing, but it still does something. But most of the time, a book will change me for good, and there are a select few that really leave lingering attachments.

Sara

oh wait, that’s me. No need to get excited ;)

Tattoo Collage

I have 9 fandom tattoos so far, ten total. I sometimes consider my Something Corporate tattoo a fandom tattoo, because music is a fandom, but for the most part, its just a tattoo I keep to myself. I have the Deathly Hallows symbol on my wrist, with “Wit Beyond Measure” underneath and “Man’s Greatest Treasure” on the other wrist. I have the epitaph from James and Lily Potter’s gravestone on my back with page stars, and “Always” on my ankle. I have the Rebel Alliance symbol from Star Wars on the back of neck and the fearless rune from The Mortal Instruments on my shoulder. I have the word “fearless” written in Circular Gallifreyan from Doctor Who on my wrist, the three ravens tattoo that Tris has in Divergent and a molnija mark from Vampire Academy.

What all of them really have in common is the idea of fear, and overcoming and accepting it and conquering those things that seem too big for us. Harry Potter conquers his fears and he accepts death and he ends up winning in the end. He handles the biggest, hardest things that any teenager has to face and he’s so strong and he does it. The Rebel Alliance takes on the entire Galactic Empire, just a small band of believers and its incredible. Fearless in both Shadowhunter runes and Doctor Who Gallifreyan represents my desire to overcome my fears. When Rose gets her molnija marks for defeating Strigoi, she’s conquering fears of Strigoi and she’s becoming brave, and coming into her own as a guardian. Tris gets her ravens when she wants to recognize and remember her past, but move forward into her own future.

I feel like I’m writing a lot but I do have a lot of tattoos. Each tattoo that I’ve gotten represents my desire to be my own person and to not give up and not let my fears keep me from experiencing life or trying to live my dreams. I am scared of so many things, like death or the dark and bugs (EW), but I’m also afraid of failure, not reaching my dreams, not being able to do the amazing things I want to do with my life. I have these to remind myself that there are these amazing characters created that conquer their fears and live their dreams and take down big enemies and get over the highest hills and that I can do that too. I can publish a book and travel the world. I can live in many different places and I can conquer that constant anxiety and fear that is always in the very back of my mind.

The first picture is from the mortal instruments and the infernal devices series by Cassandra Clare. Its the fortitude rune which gives the shadowhunter the power of fortitude. Mental and emotional strength when faced with difficulty, adversity, danger and temptation. I got this tattoo because I struggled with depression and I need to remember to stay strong through anything. It’s a really positive rune which whenever I face difficulties I can look at and remember to stay grounded and that I will always overcome whatever lays in my path.

The second picture is a quote from Alice in Wonderland. I loved this book when I was a kid and have always been obsessed with it. I chose this quote because it’s true. Everyone is mad, everyone is different, we are all a bit weird. I was always different from everyone else and as a result I was bullied a lot. This tattoo reminds me that you are who you are and no body is perfect, everyone is mad in one way or another.

Ginevra

Ginevra Tattoo

This is my first tattoo. It is Eeyore from A.A. Mine’s Winnie the Pooh books. For my first tattoo I wanted something that I have loved and felt a connection to for a long long time. Eeyore was Always my favourite as a child and even more than that I feel a connection with him as I am definitely an Eeyore type personality.

Jessica

Jessica 1 Jessica 2

I got Dumbledore’s quote to Harry about the Mirror of Erised from book 1, encircling the Deathly Hallows symbol from book 7, and ending with the page stars, to symbolize Harry’s journey coming full circle, and because I just love this quote. I got the page stars on my wrist because JKR drew them and I love that only other HP fans know what they are, while anyone else just thinks they’re 3 stars on my wrist.

Doctor Who actually saved my life. I have anxiety and depression, and was in an abusive relationship. I felt I wasn’t important and didn’t care if anything happened. The past couple years have been super hard. Then I started to watch Doctor Who, and I realized I was important. This reminds me of love and hope. I love all the strong characters and how they cry openly and are just so amazing. I actually am planning to add on to it in the future.

Barb

I’m not sure I really have a “why” but here it goes. The Avengers got me into comics, and I have no issues admitting that. But THE Avenger that actually made me purchase a book? Hawkeye. As soon as I heard about the book I knew I had to get my hands on it. I looked into local comic book stores and found a little piece of Heaven that was welcoming to everyone. Then before you know it, I had a pull box filled with various comics. None of this would have happened without the Avenger that runs around with a group of super heroes but enjoys a slice of pizza with his dog on his off days.

Amber

My fandom tattoos started with my divergent tattoo. I had a good bit of ink previously and came dangerously close to getting the dauntless faction symbol instead of my birds (I still kinda want to), and around the same time, grownupfangirl started to kind of take off, so I obviously started reading and communicating with some of my favorite authors more…which ultimately leads to Stronger feelings about certain books.

I think, my fandom tattoos are best described by a quote in a book I recently read (Best Kind of Broken by Chelsea Fine): “She’s fearless with her tattoos, stamping her body with whatever is truthful for her at the time. There’s something honest about that – about devoting yourself to whatever is honest for you in the moment, even though you know life will change and you’ll change with it.”

Katie

I have two Harry Potter tattoos, both on my arms. My first is a black outline of a Golden Snitch with the Deathly Hallows symbol inside of it. To me, the snitch represents so much besides Quidditch. I’ve always been fascinated with flight, it is also winning the end of the “game”, it holds secrets, and stays true to the first person that catches it. Harry’s Snitch even held a Deathly Hallows item inside. Therefore the Deathly Hallows symbol is inside to represent this as well as the death so many are afraid of and run from. But when you possess the Deathly Hallows, you are the master of death and in a way, I now possess them.

The writing on my other arm is actually JK Rowling’s hand writing from a letter she wrote to me after I met her. I handed her a letter I wrote about my life, and how much her stories and she means to me and so many others in the world. The writing says “Keep fighting! You’re inspirational. With Love and Admiration, Jo”. I chose the royal purple color to match the signature color in her handwritten letter and because it represents the original Potter franchise and magic in general. Having her autograph as Jo, not her usual ‘JK Rowling’ was so much more personal to me. Her letter was longer but I chose these particular pieces from it to inspire me to never give up in my life, that anything is possible, and always remember my own role model finds me inspirational to her.

Naomi

These are my two Harry Potter tattoos. I’ve got the Deathly Hallows because that book is my favourite and I wanted something to symbolise that. It’s on my right foot. On my left forearm, I have “I open at the close”. This is from the first snitch that Harry ever caught, and is also from the last book. I love this quote because I feel like it symbolises Harry, and the kind of person he is.

I’ve loved Harry Potter for a very long time now and always wanted a Harry Potter tattoo. A few people told me I would regret my decision to get these tattoos, but I won’t. I’ll always love Harry Potter, and even if for some reason, I stop loving the books, they’re a huge part of my life and I’d never change that.

Jimmy

Jimmy

I have two science fiction tattoos. Left is the TARDIS from Doctor Who an the right is the Starfleet insignia from Star Trek. I got them because I love the concept of space exploration and sci-fi things make me happy, whether they are incredibly mind blowing or incredibly cheesy. I love it all.

Laura

Laura

My tattoo means the world to me. It is from “The Mortal Instruments” series. The quote is from the City of Bones book and movie, which is quoted by Hodge Starkweather. The reason I chose this quote is because I have a wide imagination and all the stories are true in my eyes. I believe in pretty much everything I read in fiction. The reason I chose the Angelic rune (also from TMI) is because it was my favourite rune and I kept unconsciously drawing it on anything i could, pretty much like Clary! Also, I like to think everyone has a little bit of angelic power inside of them.

Luz

Luz

The first one is the fearless rune from TMI. I got it because sometimes you feel like you need something that hides your fears away, and I needed it. I needed to stand up and by myself. And so I did. The second one is Tris’ ravens, from Divergent. I admire her, because I relate to her. I would give my life if it means the people I love will be okay. And, sometimes, for them and for yourself to be happy, you need to make some sacrifices. I’ve done some, and it’s nice to have this tattoo with it’s double meaning.

I hope you enjoyed seeing all these awesome people’s tattoos! I’ve done posts like these before and I hope to continue to post about them, because its a passion of mine.

Tuesday Top Ten-Top Fictional Families

So I gotta give credit where credit is due: my dad totally came up with this week’s Tuesday Top Ten, prescription again. I am seriously running out of ideas. Well, mind I guess that’s not true. I always have ideas but they are usually book related. I am trying to do my best to expand myself into movies and TV shows and all of that, and the best way to start is through the Tuesday Top Ten.

So here ya go everyone. Here is the Tuesday Top Ten, where I share all the fictional families that I think it’d be pretty cool to be a part of!

10. The Bennetts-Pride and Prejudice

bennet-family

Okay, there’s a huge part of me that’s like, do I really want to have FIVE sisters? I already have two sisters who, yes I love, but they drive me absolutely bonkers! We fight over clothes and make-up and who gets time in the bathroom and all kinds of fun stuff like that. Do I really want to deal with Jane, Elizabeth, Lydia, Mary and Kitty Bennett? And the answer to that question is: HELL YES! I LOVE the Bennett family, I absolutely adore them! I love that no matter how crazy life gets, and it gets CRAZY, they love each other so much. Jane and Elizabeth are really the only normal ones. Lydia and Kitty are just silly as hell, and fairly stupid at times too, Mary is a serious introvert, Mr. Bennett is social awkward and Mrs. Bennett is just NUTS. But they make for a realistic and fun family, and it all ends happily in the end and I just absolutely adore them. I’d be a Bennett, for sure!

9. The McFlys-Back to the Future

tumblr_lh6a2i42xc1qgl8g0o1_500

I’m not going to lie, there is a HUGE part of me that wants to be part of the McFlys because their last name is seriously cool. I have no idea why I think that, but I would totally be down to be Sara McFly. And maybe if I was a McFly, my cool older brother Marty would totally take me on cool time traveling adventures, and I’d totally get to see him save our parents marriage, and make it THAT much better. I don’t know, I just always liked how they were a loving family, and that even though Marty going back in time changed some stuff, they still remained a super loving family, and I love how at the end, George Sr is a badass dad, and Lorraine is super hot mom, and for some reason, Marty’s brother works in an office but still lives at home, and its just awesome.

8. The Stark Family-The Song of Ice and Fire

stark-family

Okay, this is totally not the best family in the world to want to be part of. For one thing, pretty much everyone in this family either dies or gets into a seriously precarious situation. Also, if I was a Stark, I couldn’t really make out with Jon Snow, because even though he’s a bastard, he’s still technically your brother by blood. Sigh. But seriously, I love fantasy novels like this, and I think the idea of living in a castle, with holdings and both learning to be a lady and learning to use various weapons would be awesome. I think the Starks are a great family, you know, before everything goes to hell. I think they all love each other, and they support each other, and they have such good values, and I think Ned and Cat take care of their children. And okay, all the Starks, including the unofficial one, Jon Snow, get these super awesome direwolves! I want a direwolf! They are so cute when they’re little pups and they grow up and they are connected with each kid, like Ghost is to Jon. I just love it. I can’t handle it. I would be  a Stark.

7. The Bluth Family-Arrested Development

Bluth_Family_white

I seriously thought about saying, look at this amazing family portrait. Really, this picture says it all. But I’ll write a little more because that’s unfair. I love the show, Arrested Development (thanks baby!) and I love that theme boils down to family, family, family but its done in SUCH a hilarious way. There is hardly a moment while you are watching this show and watching this family interact that you don’t laugh. They are literally the most ridiculous family to ever exist. The criminal father. The drunk mother. The kind of stupid magician brother. The naive, shopaholic sister. The even more naive, probably gay brother-in-law. The cousins in love. Its just a laugh factory the entire ride, and its never a dull moment. I swear that’s why Michael Bluth sticks around, just to be a part of the hilarity of his family.

6. The Baggins-The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings

frodo-baggit

I want to be a Hobbit! I’m already short as it is, and okay, I don’t have hairy feet because that’s just gross but I would make a seriously awesome Hobbit. I love to eat and I love to have a good time, and I would seriously love to go on adventures like Bilbo and Frodo do. I have the adventurous spirit in me, which means I’m already fit to be a Baggins. I mean, obviously, the Baggins have the BEST life, or at least these two do. And okay, Frodo has the most ridiculous burden as the Ringbearer and its not easy, and Bilbo almost gets killed by pretty much every creature possible in Middle Earth while helping Thorin and company, but come on, ADVENTURE! Plus, they have super cool friends (Thorin, the dwarfs, Gandalf, Merry, Pippin, Sam, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli…) and they live in little hobbit holes. I seriously think hobbit holes are one of the COOLEST houses to exist in fictional world. No lie. I want one. I would love to live at Bag End.

5. The Skywalkers-Star Wars Saga

The-Skywalkers-the-skywalker-family-33851372-600-825

I couldn’t find a good picture of the Skywalkers, because let’s face it, they aren’t exactly the happiest family in the world and then I found this picture, couldn’t stop laughing and voila! There ya go! I don’t think I’d want to be really part of the family that is here, but I would like to be a Skywalker. Look, they are seriously badass and powerful, and they are capable of so much. Anakin/Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker are both trained late as Jedis and are incredibly powerful as Jedis. And my girl, my best girl, Princess Leia, who I wanted to be for so much of my life, is a Skywalker, and if you’ve read the books, she gets even MORE awesome. If you were going to be a Jedi Knight, and be part of that world, the Skywalkers are TOTALLY the way to go. Plus their last name is also really awesome too. Sara Skywalker :) I like the ring to it.

4. The O’Haras-Gone with the Wind

carreen plaid movie

I am so down to be an O’Hara, mostly because I totally want Scarlett as a sister and Gerald as a dad. I love both of them because of the Irish streak to their nature. While Ellen, Suellen and Careen all stick to being good Southern ladies, the honor and pageantry of the South doesn’t quite time the fiery father and daughter and I love that. They are my two favorite characters in the novel, plus Rhett Butler. I love that they try to blend in, and they manage to be a part of it but they aren’t ever full integrated into that lifestyle. They’re all ambitious and fiery and wonderful. Plus they live at Tara, which is so beautiful, too beautiful for anyone to handle, and I love those dresses. Scarlett’s dress at the Twelve Oaks barbecue…I love it so much. I would love to be part of that family to be part of that Southern culture, and to wear those pretty dresses, and go to parties where you could dance and all of that. I love it.

3. The One-Hundred Acre Woods Family-Winnie the Pooh

2

Winnie the Pooh is one of the most amazing animated features ever. I have a ridiculous obsession with Winnie the Pooh and I would seriously love to live in the 100 Hundred Acre Woods, where I could have adventures with the awesome stuffed animals that live there. I would feel bad for Christopher Robin though, because no lie, I would so try to replace him. I would be like, these animals love more now Christopher, what you going to do about that?

Wow, I’m kind of evil. But seriously, I loved these movies as a kid and I super love them now, and I loved the new movie they released in 2011, and I would love to have Winnie the Pooh in my life. I know they aren’t a technical family but they are :) They love and support one another, and put up with each other’s flaws and come on, Winnie the Pooh is awesome. His lack of a big brain makes for some silly and lovable moments. I want my own little Pooh Bear.

2. The Lightwoods-The Mortal Instruments/The Infernal Devices

tumblr_mnw5trxATL1rgbg31o1_500

The only problem with being part of the Lightwood family would be that I couldn’t date Alec or Isabelle. But then I couldn’t do that anyway because Izzy is perfect with Simon and Alec is gay. And I can still have Jace…even though I think of him as a Lightwood, too. Well, damn. Haha. I want to be a Lightwood because I think they are the MOST badass family in the Shadowhunter world. Gabriel and Gideon Lightwood in the Infernal Devices and Maryse, Max (cries), Alec, Isabelle, Jace…they are all such badass Shadowhunters and I want to be part of that family. Plus there symbol is fire (still working on getting a Lightwood ring from Vivi Hebel’s Hebel Designs!) I want to be a Shadowhunter so badly and I admire all the Lightwoods so much so if there was a Shadowhunter family that I’d be a part of, it would be the Lightwoods. The Herondales are a close second but always, always the Lightwoods. Then I could live in the New York Institute :)

1. The Weasleys-Harry Potter series

weasleys-harry-potter-9922787-1024-576

My dad and brother say that I’m totally biased in my Top Ten Lists because I usually choose Harry Potter in some form for number one. Well, Harry Potter is my number one fandom, easily. There’s a reason why I have four tattoos. So of course they’re going to end up in the number one spot most of the time. And here’s the thing. I love the Weasleys. I love that they love each other and they are so close, and they do so much together, and for each other. But I think it just reminds me of my own family. No matter how much money the family has, and like the Weasleys, we’ve never had a lot, they are still able to be so happy together. Sure, money can be a sore issue but they have each other and they have crazy adventures and they drive each other insane, and basically sleep on top of each other, and its just awesome. Its my family; we only have one less kid than the Weasleys. Plus, if I was a Weasley, I would be able to live in the Burrow, which is the coolest house in the world.

Hope you all enjoyed this week’s edition of the Tuesday Top Ten. Don’t forget you can always check out old ones here.

What are some of YOUR favorite fictional families? I can’t wait to hear, so share them in the comments!

The Tuesday Top Ten-Favorite Disney Movies

So, information pills for those of you who are new to my blog, price and there do seem to be a quite big number of you. this is the Tuesday Top Ten. For those of you who have already followed me for a bit, this web go doodle a little while I quickly explain what it is to all my lovely new followers.

Basically…I love making lists, naming my top books or my top female characters, my top male crushes, my top weapons, my top fictional places that I would like to live in, things like that. So I came up with a weekly blog post on Tuesdays, called the Top Ten, where I count down the Top Ten.

You can see past top tens HERE.

I recently did a Top Ten where I counted my top ten Pixar movies, which of course, always causes discord amongst my followers (DAD!) haha. So I decided a good one to do would be Disney movies. This one was REALLY hard, like…really, really hard. Disney has been making movies since the 1930s. It was incredibly hard to narrow it down to ten. Mostly I thought about my childhood and what stands out the most to me. I was a child during the 1990s, and this was a fantastic time for Disney movies.

So here it is, this week’s Tuesday Top Ten: Favorite Disney Movies.

10. The Lion King

images

I remember when I found out later in life that this movie was based off of the famous Shakespeare play “Hamlet”, I was absolutely shocked. Who would have thought? Then you watch this movie as an adult, and you can see that, you can see the absolute maturity of this movie and its something that I totally appreciate as an adult, the themes of the movie. As a kid, and a kid’s movie, its just fantastic. Its hilarious, the songs are super addicting and its just a beautiful movie. I think the biggest reason that it appealed to me as a kid is all the animals. Let’s be real, kids LOVE animals and this movie is chock full of them.

9. Lilo and Stitch

images-1

I saw this movie when it first came out when I was 13 years old, a little “old” for a kids movie, though you’re never too old for Disney, now are you? I think the thing that really appealed to me about this movie was that it was finally a CHUBBY Disney character. I love Disney princesses, I’m a girl and I adore the princesses but Lilo was awesome. She’s this short little kid with chubbiness going on and her sister has these big ol’ thighs and they just feel so real, which seems kind of ironic since Stitch is an alien but its true. And even though its an alien, and all that, its still such a relatable story about family and how family can come from places you never really expect. It really shows you that, sometimes, your family doesn’t always need to be those who are blood related but can come from those people who are so special, so supportive, and so loving. I love this movie. And come on, who doesn’t feed Pudge the fish on sandwich day because he controls the weather?

8. Peter Pan

cp_FWB_peter-pan_20121113

A place where there are pirates and Native Americans (I know, the movie calls them Indians, I can’t help but be politically correct haha), mermaids and adventure and never having to grow up? Sign me up! Especially on those days when your gas tank is on empty, your bills are due, there are two papers and three midterms coming up and nothing seems to be going your way and you wish so badly that you could go back to that completely uncomplicated time of being a child. That’s where Peter Pan steps in. Its a wonderful movie to remember that growing up, its not so bad…but that we can always be a child. I’ve grown up, and still will continue to grow up, in all the right ways but I always will have that child in me, because if I don’t…well then whats the point of life? Where does the fun come in? I enjoy watching Peter Pan because it reminds us that we should always remember to dream and we should always remember to be a little kid.

7. Mary Poppins

images-2

I ADORE MARY POPPINS and its the only non-animated movie on the list because I absolutely positively adore this movie. I think this movie is the movie that kind of ushered in my love of musicals. Its all about imagination and having fun, but learning lessons along the way as well, like cleaning your room and feeling connection with others, and things like that. I love the children’s mother and her fight for women’s rights too. Its barely noted except for the one song but I just adore it, especially since the father is so weirded out by it but she just keeps fighting. I love the children and I just love Mary Poppins. Julie Andrews is just so beautiful and fantastic and talented in this movie, and if I ever wanted a nanny, you bet I’d want one like that, who teaches you to clean your room in the best way possible, and takes you into the land of chalk drawings, where you race horses from a merry go round. I only wish that I could have the chance to see this performed on stage.

6. Aladdin

Aladdin-Wallpaper-aladdin-5776538-1024-768

You know, I’ve always loved this movie but I don’t think I ever would have included it in my top ten if not for my boyfriend. My boyfriend will watch this movie over and over and over and over again and because of the million and one times that I have sat and watched this movie with him, it really has become one of my favorites. Its such an old school kind of fairy tale. You have the love story, the evil character waiting to usurp the throne, the faithful sidekicks in Abu and the Magic Carpet and the kind of wise old mentor, which in this case is also the hilarious Genie played by Robin Williams. Its funny, its action, its romantic, and its just a straight up good movie. Once we get past the fact that Princess Jasmine is 15 years old and needs to get married…its a great movie.

5.  Cinderella

Cinderella Cover

Everything about this movie screams unrealistic cheesy romantic fairy tale but I think that this is exactly why I like it so much. Its very magical, if completely bonkers. Cinderella gets a fairy godmother to make her a beautiful dress, and helps her get to the ball where the handsome prince falls madly in love with her and rescues her from the clutches of her wicked stepmother and stepsisters. Isn’t that what all girls want…a prince charming to come riding in, to sweep them off their feet and rescue them from the boring monotony that is their life and give them a life of excitement and love? There’s a reason that Cinderella remains one of the most popular princesses, because she has the most magical and most romantic of all the fairy tales and I love me some good romance stories and this is why it is so high up. Even though love isn’t always sunshine and rainbows and choruses singing, its nice to remember, even when times get hard, that love is beautiful and we could always do with a little romance.

4. A Goofy Movie

images-3

This is absolutely one of my favorite MOVIES period of all time. I grew up watching this movie over and over and over and over again. One, I love that Goofy gets his own movie, he is one of my favorite Disney characters because, well, he’s goofy! He’s silly and klutzy and fun but we get to see more of Goofy in this movie. He’s a dad in this one, and he’s determined to be the best dad that he can be, determined to help his son turn out to be a good kid. Its a pretty heart warming film, when you think about it, and it results in a bond between Goofy and his son Max. Its also really fun though, and the amount of times that I’ve laughed watching this movie, though I’ve watched it a million times, is just too many to count. And the music? I can still sing, WORD FOR WORD, every song on this soundtrack. Actually, I’m pretty sure I have this soundtrack on my itunes…

3. Tangled

images-5

I actually saw this movie a good year or two after it had come out in theaters. I had seen it, but hadn’t really had any desire to watch it. My old boss at Panera, however, kept saying how good it was and her daughter was super obsessed with (and okay, her daughter was a year old but whatever) and it just piqued my interest. I saw that it was on Netflix and figured, “meh, why not?” I am SO glad that I did. I have watched it about a hundred million times since then and I seriously just love this movie. It has Mandy Moore (love!) as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi (LOVE!) as Flynn Rider and its just a fun princess adventure. Sure, we’re back to the super gorgeous and skinny princesses but Rapunzel has spunk and cleverness and bravery, and she doesn’t wait for Flinn to save her, but she does the work herself and they work together. This is SO much different than what we’ve seen before. And the amazing Alan Menkin, who has done music for so many of the brilliant Disney movies, does the music in this one. Another soundtrack on my itunes…

2. Beauty and the Beast

images-4

Can I be honest for a moment? The biggest reason that I love this movie so much and that Belle is my favorite Disney princess is because she is a READER. I remember as a little kid wanting to be able to walk and read the way she does…and by the way? I totally can. But I loved how she read and I loved the way she talked about reading and books. Its exactly how I feel, the way you can escape into books, the way they teach you and the way they make you want to be so much more than what you are. Belle is a big dreamer and she gets so much of that from her love of books. And Beast…possibly the BEST Disney prince ever (though, I must admit, Prince Philip is the hottest…and he barely talks, which some girls might consider a win haha), gives Belle something so personal and thoughtful. The other princesses get woken up from slumber and married, like Snow White and Aurora, or win the prince without ever speaking a word, like Ariel but Beast recognizes the beauty AND intelligence of Belle and gives her a LIBRARY. A LIBRARY! What an amazing gift! Hey, boyfriend, why don’t you get me a library????? Just kidding…or am I? Anyway, I love this movie because Belle is the princess that I relate to the most and I always do and always will.

1. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

images-6

I love Winnie the Pooh. I loved him as a child, and I adore him as an adult and he is my absolute favorite Disney character. I have a huge stuffed Pooh on my bed that I sleep with, and a hand drawn Pooh Bear on my wall from Disneyland. My favorite ride at Disneyland is the Winnie the Pooh ride. One of my absolute favorite children’s books is the book of Winnie the Pooh, and House at Pooh Corner and all of those. Winnie the Pooh consists of silly and fun stories, adventures of stuffed animals but there is so much more to it as well. There’s little lessons here and there on friendship and love and its all so very sweet. And Pooh is just so lovable. He’s one of those characters that you just can’t help but to love. Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day  and Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too have never gotten old to me, and they were made quite a long time ago, long before I was born. They hold so strong and true with children and that’s why this is my absolute favorite Disney movie of all time.
