Day 10: How do you choose what book to read next?
So before I got my library card, I was buying books all the time. And the thing is, I’m a college student who only works two days a week so I don’t make a lot of money, which means logically, I can’t really buy all the books I want. So mostly, I would choose what books I want to read based on what I felt like re-reading. This is a huge reason why I reread my books so much. I read super fast and my wallet can’t keep up with my fast reading habits.
When I do go to the bookstore, there is usually a book on my mind because it was recommended to me, or that sort of thing. If an author that I really like puts out a new book, I’ll usually go out that day to buy it, 99.9% of the time.
Now that I have goodreads, my “to-read” list is a mile long and so what I decide to read next depends on what is on my “to-read” list. I’ll go to the bookstore, pull up my goodreads app and kind of go from there. I also just kind of let myself think about what I want to read. Like…does Vampire Academy sound good, or am I feeling like contemporary YA, so I’ll ready Gayle Forman’s Just One Day. I use those two titles because they were the two titles I was grappling between to read next. I felt more fantastical so I decided to read Vampire Academy (and then you all were bugging me to read it too!).
It also depends on what I get from the library too. I may want to read something next but that doesn’t necessarily mean that I can. I wanted to read Unwholly, the sequel to Unwind by Neil Schusterman, right after I read Unwind but I didn’t have it and I’ve been waiting for the library to get it for me. So there is that.
Lastly, I really do listen to you guys. A follower recommended Amanda Hocking, so I read her. A follower recommended Neil Schusterman so I read him. You all have been yelling at me to read Vampire Academy, even though I’m not a vampire person, so I’m reading that right now. So, please, keep recommending these to me. I really do listen to you, and I appreciate it so much :)
