Can We Stop Being Racist When POC Actors Are Cast?

In the past couple of weeks, there have been some huge casting announcements in two of my biggest fandoms – Doctor Who, for the newest Doctor, and the three main characters for the highly anticipated Disney+ adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I am SO excited for the both of these, as Doctor Who is one of my absolute favorite TV series and I love the entire Percy world so much, and was so disappointed in the two movies that were made so I’m excited (and wary) about the tv show.

There have been HUGE casting news and guys, I’m so excited!

First Thoughts on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (Warning: Spoilers!)

Happy Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Day!

Even though its only been a handful of months since we had our Marvel appetites satisfied with the most recent Spiderman movie, I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say that fans were anxiously awaiting the release of this movie. This movie had its hands in so many previous MCU stories, like the first Doctor Strange movie, Wandavision and What If… and there were so many rumors and speculation on what would happen and who would appear.

TV Show Review: Love, Victor

Yesterday was the Hulu premiere of the brand new show, Love, Victor. Only ten episodes long, I spent most of day binge watching this show. I absolutely love everything written by Becky Albertalli and I loved the movie, Love, Simon so I was definitely ready to watch this show. There are so many things that I absolutely loved about this show and I’ll say it –

Disney+ totally messed up by letting this gem go.

Here’s my review. I’ll do my very best to keep it as spoiler free as I possibly can, especially since it JUST came out yesterday and is a brand new story that has never been told before.

NaNoWriMo Day 5 Check In! Looking for Guest Bloggers!

Hey everyone!

I wanted to peek my head in and remind everyone that this month is NaNoWriMo and I am participating for the 7th year in a row! I’m really excited – I haven’t written much of anything since last year’s NaNoWriMo and I’m really feeling this new project. In fact, we’re on day five and I’m a little over 15K words in, with a plan to hopefully hit 20K by tonight.

So far, the blog has stayed pretty busy because I’ve had some planned posts. I did want to warn you that the blog may be a little sparse this month because I’ll be focusing more on my word count for my new novel and less about staying on top of blogging. I hate to do that when I’m on a roll, and with the revamp and all, but it is what it is. NaNoWriMo is an important time of year for me and I’m really attached to this secret new project that I’m working on.

In the meantime, I did want to let you know that I am looking for guest bloggers for the month if you’re interested. You can do a review for a new book you’ve read, a movie or TV show you’ve watched, a video game you’ve played. You could talk about a fandom, you can express an opinion about something going on in the fandom community, you can try your hand out on a fandom foodie recipe. I’m open to anything, really, I just want this month to be as full as other months and I’m not sure how to accomplish it.

If you ARE interested in writing something, please email me! You can reach me through the contact tab above OR at whatanerdgirlsays (at) gmail (dot) com.

Thanks guys! I appreciate your understanding every November when I disappear. Don’t forget that you can follow me and my progress on my NaNoWriMo page!

Wish me luck!
