Once Upon a Time…Eight Writers Tell a Story

Okay, so one of the biggest things that I’ve noticed in my quest to get writing advice from as many authors as I possibly can is that the advice tends to get repeated over time. And that makes sense. I’m getting writing advice from authors that are successful and of course they are going to have similar writing advice.

But a big one that I’ve always kind of found important and intriguing is the idea of finding your own voice. After years and years and years of telling stories, there aren’t many new stories. So how on earth is it possible that new books are coming out every day? And its so simple: because the story idea may be the same but the voice of the author is very different.

Watch out for Hop-Ons!

In just a week, one of my absolute favorite shows of all time, Arrested Development will be returning for its fourth season, after being canceled during the third season back in 2006. The rights were eventually released by Fox and Netflix snatched that up and a fourth season was created, produced and filmed. It returns on May 26th, all fourteen episodes, available for streaming on Netflix. I cannot wait.

Star Trek Into Darkness-Red Carpet Premiere and Review!

***Please note that if you’re reading this in 2019 or later, a lot of these posts might be missing the photos that originally were posted along with the blog post. When I switched platforms, not all of the photos transferred! Thank you for understanding!***

Yay, can finally post my review and experiences for Star Trek Into Darkness. I wanted to post it right away but, well, I went to the red carpet premiere on Tuesday and the movie didn’t release til Thursday night so…I didn’t want to ruin anything. Or get in trouble. I mean, I didn’t need people tracking me down, and tackling me to the ground because I wrote about the movie before it premiered.

Fandom Friday-My Little Pony

The Fandom Friday is a weekly feature, with each blog post written by a new contributor.

This is the weekly post where either myself, or a guest blogger, talks about a new fandom. See, I’ve had the experience in my life where I’ve been made fun or put down about my particular fandoms. And that has made me feel pretty crappy. But I’ve also put down other fandoms as well.

So I’ve decided to change that. I’m opening my world up to new fandoms, and the best way to do that is to bring people in to write about various fandoms. I’m very excited about this segment.

If you guys are interested in becoming a guest blogger for the Fandom Friday, feel free to email me at whatanerdgirlsays at gmail.com or contact me HERE

Book of the Week-Throne of Glass

Hello everyone :) Welcome to this week’s Book of the Week. I have to tell you, I read three new books this week and it was kind of hard to narrow it down to just one to review for this week. I chose this one because it most fits what I usually review and its awesome but I’m thinking…

Should I maybe do a video blog occasionally? Maybe like, “Sara’s Quick Picks“, and I’ll profile the other books I read that week that don’t make it to the Book of the Week? It’d be like…quick reviews of the other books? What do you guys think? Let me know!

Anyway, I saw this book all over GoodReads and people were talking about it and I’m like, I need to get on this train and I added it to my “to-read” list. Then I went shopping at Barnes and Noble last week to pick up some books to get signed at the Ontario Teen Book Fest and I saw this sitting on the shelf and was like “LOOK AT THAT COOL COVER!” and immediately grabbed it off the shelf.

Exclusive Interview with Eoin Colfer at the Mission Viejo Library!

***Please note that if you’re reading this in 2019 or later, a lot of these posts might be missing the photos that originally were posted along with the blog post. When I switched platforms, not all of the photos transferred! Thank you for understanding!***

This past weekend, after spending all day Saturday at the super epic Ontario Teen Book Fest, I got another super great opportunity through the Mission Viejo Library (You rock, Allison!) and was able to score an interview with best-selling author, Eoin Colfer, author of books like The Supernaturalist, The Wish List, and most notably, the Artemis Fowl series.

His most recent release, The Reluctant Assassin, is the first of a planned trilogy called Warp. According to Eoin, the books involve time travel (where he got inspiration from Back to the Future and Doctor Who!) and is supposed to scare the pants off of you!
