I can’t believe it. Two books. In ONE month. I swear, viagra approved I’m a better book reader and blogger than this. I resolve that I WILL get better in December!
This song is one of my favorite songs…ever. It means the world to me. When I saw Story of the Year perform in October of 2013 in Anaheim, approved they played the full “Page Avenue” album, to celebrate its ten year anniversary. I was front and center on the barricade, and it was just the most incredible show. (Its also where I discovered another favorite band, Set It Off). When they played Sidewalks, I sang so loud, I lost my voice and I cried so hard. This song meant the world to me when I first heard it back when I was 15 and at 27, it still means so much to me. Its been a rough week for me, and I thought, this is the perfect song to share :)
“Sidewalks” by Story of the Year
The bridge is all crumbled.
The water soaks into rocks
that fell at the bottom of the road (At the end of the town.)
The town that we lived in.
The memories shaken apart from the weeds that grow
Over the sidewalks,
Running away from the streets we knew,
Sidewalks,
Like the time we thought was made for you.
Oh…
Out on the front porch,
watching the cars as they go by
(Eighteen blue, twenty one grey)
Looking ahead for the first time that we could drive,
Out on our own,
To speed away
From the sidewalks,
Running away from the streets we knew,
Sidewalks,
Like the time we thought was made for you.
Oh…
All of the days have passed us by,
All of the sun is gone… away.
Sidewalks,
Running away from the streets we knew,
Sidewalks,
Running away from the streets we knew,
Sidewalks,
Like the time we thought was made for you.
(Sidewalks)
The bridges are crumpled,
The water soaks into rocks,
(Sidewalks)
That fell at the bottom of the road.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my US followers and friends! And you know what, clinic Happy Thanksgiving to all of you not celebrating too! Its always a good day to be thankful for what you have in your life.
Now, about it its been no secret that this year has been really rough for me…especially the past few months. I ended a near 7 year old relationship, find and that has been rough on everything else in my life including two of the things that mean the most to me: writing and reading.
But I’m holding my head up high. There is SO much good in my life and I’m trying to remind myself EVERY single day that I have so much to be thankful for. I have great friends. I have the best group of siblings that anyone could ask for. I have a job that I’ve wanted for quite some time now and I love it. I’ve written a novel and I’m on the path to getting it published. I have this blog. I have more books than I could possibly read. I have met incredible people. I get to do amazing stuff like see great bands and go to movie premieres and hang out with authors. I have a great life and even though its not the easiest thing in the world right now, I’m thankful for everything I do have.

Parked outside the house we used to live
There’s a light left on inside
Think of all the days we’d spend
Orchestrating accidents
Lights that used to blind us
Somehow they will guide us through the night
Following the outline of your face
I can see your breath move in the dark
Through all the autopilot years
The tears of joy, drug the face of fear
Now that we’re not hiding
Somehow you’re still riding in my car
No cash in the bank, no paid holidays
All we have, all we have is
Gas in the tank, maps for the getaway
All we have, all we have is time
Parked outside the house we used to live
Staring down the green roof and the walls
The balcony, the hills, the pain
The years of hope, the months of rain
Now that we’re outside it, I guess we survived it after all
No cash in the bank, no paid holidays
All we have, all we have is
Gas in the tank, maps for the getaway
All we have, all we have is time
All we have is time
All we have is time
No white picket fence, no job with the government
All we have, all we have are
Mornings in bed, coffee and aspirin
All we have
No cash in the bank, no sign of yesterday
All we have, all we have is
Gas in the tank, maps for the getaway
All we have, all we have is time
All we have is time
