Music Monday: “Hurricane” by Something Corporate

“Hurricane” by Something Corporate

Shake down you make me break
For goodness sake
I think I’m on the edge
Of something new with you
Shout out don’t drown the sound
I’ll drown you out
You’ll never scream so loud
As I want to scream with you

Standing there with your smile blinding
Your eyes from seeing
My face as I’m dying

To figure out a girl

But she drifts so far away
I’m on her coast
So maybe I should stay
And map around your world

So don’t say
“These currents are still killing me”
And you can’t explain
But the wind went and pulled me into your hurricane
Into your hurricane

Stand up don’t make a sound
Your ears might bleed
There are sweet fluorescent enemies
That live inside of me
The world moves faster than I knew
Not fast enough to not creep up on you
And the space we put between
So pull me under your weather patterns
Your cold fronts and the rain don’t matter
Because the sun burns what I needed

[Chorus]
So don’t say
“These currents are still killing me”
And you can’t explain
But the wind went and pulled you into the hurricane
Into the hurricane

You don’t do it on purpose
But you make me shake
Now I count the hours ’til you wake
With your babies breath
Breathe symphonies
Come on sweet catastrophe

Well, more about maybe this time I can follow through
I can feel complete
Stop paying dues
Stop the rain from falling
Keep my ocean calm
This time I know nothing’s wrong

[Chorus]
So don’t say
“These currents are still killing me”
And you can’t explain
But the wind went and pulled me in and no,
You don’t say
“These currents are still killing me”
And you can’t explain
But the wind went and pulled me into your hurricane
Into your hurricane
Into your hurricane

The Langdon House” by Issues

2014-Band-Members-issues-37741108-960-640

Did I fail to mention, it’s all part of my imagination
I could actually pick and choose my loose ends
And tie a knot, but all I do is
Run and hide, it’ll get ya boy
Run and hide, all I need is a friend
My whole life has been a war, so I battle myself until I
Run and hide

Bleak December” by Set it Off

set_it_off_august_2014

In that bleak December,
You’re just too cold,
But I need the answer,
Before you’d fold,
You would hold your cards inside your chest,
I think I drove too far,
For that bleak December and how full of shit you are.

Rainy Girl” by Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness

37-etxl1

Rainy girl
I can’t wait to meet you
And I can’t wait to hear your name
And sing it to the skies above

Remembering Sunday” by All Time Low

319-cover

Forgive me, I’m trying to find
My calling, I’m calling at night
I don’t mean to be a bother, but have you seen this girl?
She’s been running through my dreams
And it’s driving me crazy, it seems
I’m gonna ask her to marry me

Sad Ghost” by Issues

Issues-band-2013

Why do I do the things that I do
And they blind you
Yet you are the only one who can see what I’ve done

Guess I’ll never know what I meant to you
This year’s been lonely but at least it’s through
I’ll write a letter to my former self
Dear sad ghost, why’d you put your heart on the shelf

Same Old War” by Our Last Night

our-last-night-idobi

Should I run away, and change my name?
or Should I, stay and fight through the night, and never close my eyes?
I’ll never close my eyes!

Seven Years” by Saosin

saosin_2014

That mistake was gold
I know that without you
is something that I could never do
That was why staple the eyes and
seven dates for me to sell machines
and tear on

I’ve Never Felt This Way Before” by Our Last Night

OurLastnight-MARCH13

Feet on the ground, I was lost, now I’m found
I took cover from the rain, ‘cause it was pouring down
You held me back, and now I’m on the right track
You couldn’t stop me if you wanted, ‘cause I’m never coming back

The Haunting” by Set It Off

Set-It-Off-Duality

All I could find was an acoustic video, but check out this song. Literally, I can’t handle how much I love this song.

No one will love you like I did, will treat you like I did
So go on, wear that scarlet letter
No one will love you like I did, will you fuck you like I did
So good luck finding something better

Sidewalks” by Story of the Year

Screen Shot 2015-01-26 at 1.53.18 AM

Out on the front porch,
watching the cars as they go by
(Eighteen blue, twenty one grey)
Looking ahead for the first time that we could drive,
Out on our own,
To speed away

From the sidewalks,
Running away from the streets we knew,
Sidewalks,
Like the time we thought was made for you.

Music Monday: “Maps for the Getaway” by Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness

“Maps for the Getaway” by Andrew McMahon

Parked outside the house we used to live
There’s a light left on inside
Think of all the days we’d spend
Orchestrating accidents
Lights that used to blind us
Somehow they will guide us through the night

Following the outline of your face
I can see your breath move in the dark
Through all the autopilot years
The tears of joy, drug the face of fear
Now that we’re not hiding
Somehow you’re still riding in my car

No cash in the bank, no paid holidays
All we have, all we have is
Gas in the tank, maps for the getaway
All we have, all we have is time

Parked outside the house we used to live
Staring down the green roof and the walls
The balcony, the hills, the pain
The years of hope, the months of rain
Now that we’re outside it, I guess we survived it after all

No cash in the bank, no paid holidays
All we have, all we have is
Gas in the tank, maps for the getaway
All we have, all we have is time

All we have is time
All we have is time

No white picket fence, no job with the government
All we have, all we have are
Mornings in bed, coffee and aspirin
All we have

No cash in the bank, no sign of yesterday
All we have, all we have is
Gas in the tank, maps for the getaway
All we have, all we have is time

All we have is time
All we have is time
All we have is time
