Music Monday: “Sad Ghost” by Issues

“Sad Ghost” by Issues

Standing in front of this bed with some matches watch it burn
I pray my body burns too

Why do I do the things that I do
And they blind you
Yet you are the only one who can see what I’ve done

Laying here doesn’t feel the same
I need to get up and make a change
Get up and get over this
My voice it echoes my thoughts collide
You said I’m dead to you I bled for you
Now your dreams can come true
There’s a place in my bed where you rested your head
Now I’m resting alone in this bed and it’s cold
I feel like a ghost, viagra 60mg these memories go up in smoke
You didn’t want serious and It made me delirious
2:40 AM all I wrote was

Why do I do the things that I do
And they blind you
Yet you are the only one who can see what I’ve done

Guess I’ll never know what I meant to you
This year’s been lonely but at least it’s through
I’ll write a letter to my former self
Dear sad ghost, medications why’d you put your heart on the shelf

You took the fun out of living
When you took the life out of me

Take a look into the mirror
But you don’t see yourself inside
Watch it crack
You’re bad luck started with me
And my good luck ended with you

I know you’re drunk again, order and not thinking clear
But when you write this down, at least try and sound
A bit more sincere

Guess I’ll never know what I meant to you
This year’s been lonely but at least its through
I’ll write a letter to my former self
Dear sad ghost, why’d you put your heart on the shelf

Music Monday: “Forget December” by Something Corporate

“Forget December” by Something Corporate

On Christmas morning, this web outside was pouring
All was hopeless in this home
And no one’s speaking, pill no one creeping
to see if she was on the phone
And you were quiet, find this routine riot
was all but practical to me
and if we see it, why can’t we beat it
can we let each other be?

Forget December, it won’t be better
Than I remember it before
and this month only, will be so lonely
and not so holy anymore

New Years Eve came, but nothing had changed
all the problems just got worse
we sat in silence
no routine science could heal the sickness we rehearse
and if I’m talking, my words are mocking
the deaf ears they have fallen on
These words are tainted with years of jaded
Innocence that’s all but gone

Forget December, it won’t be better
than I remember it before
and this month only, will be so lonely
and not so holy anymore, anymore, anymore, anymore
Forget December, it won’t be better
than I remember it before
this month only will be so lonely
and not so holy anymore
Forget December it won’t bet better
than I rememebr it before
a silent night won’t feel quite right
It’s not so silent anymore, anymore, anymore, anymore

On Christmas morning, outside was pouring
all was hopeless in this home

Music Monday: “Sidewalks” by Story of the Year

This song is one of my favorite songs…ever. It means the world to me. When I saw Story of the Year perform in October of 2013 in Anaheim, approved they played the full “Page Avenue” album, to celebrate its ten year anniversary. I was front and center on the barricade, and it was just the most incredible show. (Its also where I discovered another favorite band, Set It Off). When they played Sidewalks, I sang so loud, I lost my voice and I cried so hard. This song meant the world to me when I first heard it back when I was 15 and at 27, it still means so much to me. Its been a rough week for me, and I thought, this is the perfect song to share :)

“Sidewalks” by Story of the Year

The bridge is all crumbled.

The water soaks into rocks
that fell at the bottom of the road (At the end of the town.)
The town that we lived in.
The memories shaken apart from the weeds that grow

Over the sidewalks,
Running away from the streets we knew,
Sidewalks,
Like the time we thought was made for you.
Oh…

Out on the front porch,
watching the cars as they go by
(Eighteen blue, twenty one grey)
Looking ahead for the first time that we could drive,
Out on our own,
To speed away

From the sidewalks,
Running away from the streets we knew,
Sidewalks,
Like the time we thought was made for you.
Oh…

All of the days have passed us by,
All of the sun is gone… away.

Sidewalks,
Running away from the streets we knew,

Sidewalks,
Running away from the streets we knew,
Sidewalks,
Like the time we thought was made for you.
(Sidewalks)
The bridges are crumpled,
The water soaks into rocks,
(Sidewalks)
That fell at the bottom of the road.

Music Monday: “Maps for the Getaway” by Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness

“Maps for the Getaway” by Andrew McMahon

Parked outside the house we used to live
There’s a light left on inside
Think of all the days we’d spend
Orchestrating accidents
Lights that used to blind us
Somehow they will guide us through the night

Following the outline of your face
I can see your breath move in the dark
Through all the autopilot years
The tears of joy, drug the face of fear
Now that we’re not hiding
Somehow you’re still riding in my car

No cash in the bank, no paid holidays
All we have, all we have is
Gas in the tank, maps for the getaway
All we have, all we have is time

Parked outside the house we used to live
Staring down the green roof and the walls
The balcony, the hills, the pain
The years of hope, the months of rain
Now that we’re outside it, I guess we survived it after all

No cash in the bank, no paid holidays
All we have, all we have is
Gas in the tank, maps for the getaway
All we have, all we have is time

All we have is time
All we have is time

No white picket fence, no job with the government
All we have, all we have are
Mornings in bed, coffee and aspirin
All we have

No cash in the bank, no sign of yesterday
All we have, all we have is
Gas in the tank, maps for the getaway
All we have, all we have is time

All we have is time
All we have is time
All we have is time

Music Monday: “Reality Without You” by Our Last Night

Our Last Night – Reality Without You

I should have seen it from the start, abortion
A fake love disguised as what I wanted in my heart
It was convincing enough, it was so easy to trust
Oh, I just couldn’t resist, it was the look in your eyes and the grace of your lips
You looked so different in the light that I’d been shining on you

You gave me heaven then you took it away
You let me in but you said I couldn’t stay
Now my feet are back on the ground
And I’m stuck in a reality without you
(Without you, without you)
And now I’m stuck in a reality without you

I should have seen it from the start
That you would rip my heart to pieces and then throw it into the trunk of your car
Drive to the edge of the city, erasing any trace we were together before you felt guilty

You gave me heaven then you took it away
You let me in but you said I couldn’t stay
Now my feet are back on the ground
And I’m stuck in a reality without you
(Without you, without you)
And now I’m stuck in a reality without you

I stepped into a house of lies, but I couldn’t see it
Pretty faces hide dirty secrets
I lost my soul along the way
(I lost my soul along the way)
You got into my system and found out how to cheat it
I still play your game but I couldn’t beat it
it was too late to get away
(It was too late to get away)

You gave me heaven then you took it away
You let me in but you said I couldn’t stay
Now my feet are back on the ground
And I’m stuck in a reality without you
(Without you, without you)
And now I’m stuck in a reality without you

Without you, without you
And now I’m stuck in a reality without you
