Music Monday: “Sidewalks” by Story of the Year

This song is one of my favorite songs…ever. It means the world to me. When I saw Story of the Year perform in October of 2013 in Anaheim, approved they played the full “Page Avenue” album, to celebrate its ten year anniversary. I was front and center on the barricade, and it was just the most incredible show. (Its also where I discovered another favorite band, Set It Off). When they played Sidewalks, I sang so loud, I lost my voice and I cried so hard. This song meant the world to me when I first heard it back when I was 15 and at 27, it still means so much to me. Its been a rough week for me, and I thought, this is the perfect song to share :)

“Sidewalks” by Story of the Year

The bridge is all crumbled.

The water soaks into rocks
that fell at the bottom of the road (At the end of the town.)
The town that we lived in.
The memories shaken apart from the weeds that grow

Over the sidewalks,
Running away from the streets we knew,
Sidewalks,
Like the time we thought was made for you.
Oh…

Out on the front porch,
watching the cars as they go by
(Eighteen blue, twenty one grey)
Looking ahead for the first time that we could drive,
Out on our own,
To speed away

From the sidewalks,
Running away from the streets we knew,
Sidewalks,
Like the time we thought was made for you.
Oh…

All of the days have passed us by,
All of the sun is gone… away.

Sidewalks,
Running away from the streets we knew,

Sidewalks,
Running away from the streets we knew,
Sidewalks,
Like the time we thought was made for you.
(Sidewalks)
The bridges are crumpled,
The water soaks into rocks,
(Sidewalks)
That fell at the bottom of the road.
