Calling All Fandoms!

A couple days ago I was talking books with someone and they really put down Cassandra Clare.

And the thing is…Cassandra Clare has a back story. She’s had issues with plagiarism and transferring her fan fictions to general fictions. These are things that I’m aware of and honestly I moved on because I enjoy her books. They have done so much for me, and maybe if I would have read them and found this out about her at a different time, I would feel differently but that’s not the way it happened and I don’t. Those books mean a LOT to me.

Then my dear Shaina from The Urge to Write wrote a guest post for this blog about guilty pleasures, you know, books and tv shows or whatnot that aren’t great but we love them anyway.

Not-So-Guilty Pleasures

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! Today we have a guest post from Shaina over at The Urge to Write blog. She is one of my fave blogs to follow because we have one really big thing in common (among other things): we LOVE to write. Writing is what we do and we share that in common. We decided to do a blog swap!

You can see my blog all about how I found writing, on her blog, right here.

And if anyone is interested in doing a swap, let me know!

For now, enjoy!

Giving Books Love

My sister and I are both book lovers. I have been a book lover my entire life, from the time I saw a small child. I think that I have mentioned before that my parents were kind of crazy and taught me to read at a pretty young age. So I was always a good reader. I always loved books.

And while the books that I loved when I was younger weren’t the most ground breaking of books (Sweet Valley High, Babysitter’s Club),I still have always have a deep love for books.

My sister fell into the book love a little later in life. She has very very very mild dyslexia, probably not even enough to be diagnosed but enough that reading was always really difficult for her, and obviously not something she wanted to jump into.

NEWS NEWS NEWS!!!!

Okay, so today I totally woke up with the Monday blues. Like total and complete Monday blues. I woke up sleepy (gosh darn you, time change!!!) and grouchy, my tooth hurt and I was hungry and didn’t really have time to eat before school. Just a completely unhappy person.

So when I got home from school today, I ate lots of food, took some ibuprofen for that insufferable toothache and crawled into my bed for some good ol’ sleep time. And when I woke up, not only did I feel insanely refreshed but I also woke up to some seriously good news.

International Women’s Day

Today is International Women’s Day. I have two thoughts on this.

One of my thoughts is this: we shouldn’t have only one day a year where we recognize women. There are so many amazing women in this world, in our present and our past. I think that we should appreciate these women every day, not just on a day like this: Elizabeth Stanton, Susan B Anthony, Marie Curie, Harriet Tubman, Hilary Clinton, J.K. Rowling, Oprah Winfrey. Your mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters. Yourself, if you’re a woman. There is so much we have accomplished and so much we are capable of accomplishing. And we should be aware of this every day, both men and women. Women should be aware because this is their legacy and they should believe in themselves and be proud of their gender. Men should be aware because they need to recognize women as their equals and realize how much we are capable of and realizing how much we already have done.
