Now, very recently, I discovered a fantastic parody artist by the name of James Hance. I was on one of my favorite parody/meme sites and saw a picture of Star Wars characters drawn to look like Classic Winnie the Pooh. These are two of my favorite things: Winnie the Pooh is my favorite Disney character easily and I love Star wars. These prints are adorable as hell and definitely caught my attention.

Now, of course, I had to find out what this was! So I did a little Google work and found his website and fell in love. His work with Winnie the Pooh and Star Wars is called Wookiee the Chew and is so gosh darn cute, any little nerd (or grown up nerd, like me) will just fall in love.
Not only does he do these, but he also does parody artwork of the Muppets, Avengers, Doctor Who, Narnia and much much more. He has prints you can buy, t-shirts and books all depicting his wonderful artwork.
The most recent thing that I have found is his Doctor Who parody book, Goodnight, Pond, co-writing with Leila Miyamoto and creating all the artwork himself.
The influence for this book, of course, is Goodnight Moon, the 1947 children’s book written by Margaret Wise Brown and one of the most well known of children’s books. This book follows the same premise, with the narrator saying good night to all of our favorite things from Doctor Who, like the sonic screwdriver, the Tardis, River Song’s little book of spoilers, the fez and the bowtie. It is absolutely endearing and the artwork is fantastic. This is easily my new favorite children’s book (ooh, but Green Eggs and Ham!) and this is something I will be keeping very close to me over the years, especially to read to my future little Whovians.
You can purchase this book, and tshirts, prints, books, etc. at his website, which I have linked above. I recently purchased Wookiee the Chew: The House at Chew Corner and am sure that it will be just as delightful as Goodnight Pond.
As a last little note, all money earned from the Wookiee the Chew line goes to Hance’s Hugs for Maddy, a fund to help him and his wife pay for hospital bills and such for their daughter, Madison, who is super cute and also very sick. I encourage everyone to help support this cause. Not only are you getting a one of a kind, adorable piece of nerd art, but you’re helping a fellow nerd in need, and that is the best part.

I just got my copy of Goodnight, Pond. It’s the most adorable thing ever, I’ve read it like ten times in two days… and I don’t even have a kid or anything. I’m not ashamed either. :D
Pssssh no shame my friend!!! It’s a fantastic and cute book!
