Hello everyone! And happy official New Year to everyone in the Pacific time zone! At this moment, this when this publishes, ailment I will be celebrating the New Year at the Mouse House. Hey, visit this site someone has to bring in the magic every day ;)

But I just wanted to wish every single one of you a very very very Happy New Year!

I know its cheesy and all that and everyone sits here on New Year’s and tells themselves that its going to be better and that they are going to be better, but I’m here to say: I really believe that’s going to happen.

2014 wasn’t a bad year. It really wasn’t. I went to the Vampire Academy, Divergent, If I Stay, Mockingjay Part 1 and The Hobbit premieres. I met a TON of incredible authors. I finished my novel. I made this blog bigger and better than before. But it was also rough. It was one of the roughest years I’ve had in a very long time.

So I believe in myself for 2015. I believe in my blog, and my novel, my writing, my ability to make myself a better and happier person. I know that this year is going to be better and not because its January 1st and that’s what we are supposed to say. I honestly believe that 2015 can be a new start for me. I believe that everything I’ve wanted to happen is going to happen. I will get an agent. I will make my life better. I will be happier.

And I”m here to say, happy new year, and to wish you all the best of wishes for this year. I think we should all go in with the most optimistic of attitudes and hope for the best year yet. It can only go up and up.

Plus, there are so many new books and movies and such coming our way this year, so its not too hard to get excited about this year, is it?

Its nearly Christmas time! Who is excited? I know I’m excited! I’m one of those people who literally rolls her eyes and scoffs at the Christmas holiday and music and all of that up until about 3 days before the actual holiday and then suddenly I’m like, healing “OHMYGOD ITS CHRISTMAS!” and that’s basically in the state of mind for me right now. Especially since I work at the Happiest Place on Earth so I’m really into that state of mind right now.

If you DON’T celebrate Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy New Year, Happy Winter Solstice, whatever it is that you celebrate.

Today I thought I’d make a list of things that would be on my Christmas list to Santa :) I must admit, I do love me some presents. I would love to be like, “oh no, please don’t get me presents, you’re too sweet” but I totally love presents. But don’t actually get me presents haha. I swear. But here we go!

10. Mike Trout/Zoey Deutch

Okay, that’s a little awkward. Maybe cardboard cutouts are a better idea. Both of these peeps are totally taken so well yeah, this one is fairly awkward. Cardboard cutouts. Let’s go with that. That’s definitely less weird…

9. Mike Trout jersey

So I already have an Angels jersey, duh. But the jersey I have is with my last name and my favorite number so I really need one with Mike Trout. Because you can never have just one jersey. No way.

8. Anything From Karen Hallion 

Karen Hallion is a goddess. She puts together two of my favorite things all the time: Disney and Doctor Who. And occasionally other nerd things like Star Wars and Game of Throne and stuff. I seriously love everything she does. She does a mashup and I just die! I want it alllllllll. Tshirts, phone cases, posters, etc.

7. Harry Potter 5-7 Ultimate Editions

Simple. I own 1-4. I need 5-7. Not too hard haha. They’re not massively expensive, I just have a hard time convincing myself that I need them in my life when I already own the regular editions of all of them.

6. Doctor Who Series 1-7

YES. I only own Series 1 and 5 (I know, so random) so I need allllll of these guys in my life. All of them. Plus it comes with all this extra stuff and a sonic screwdriver. What fun!

5. A New Car 

So I’ve been wanting a new car for awhile now but my brother has been seriously shopping for a car and while he’s shopping for a new car, I’ve been like, I need a new car in my life RIGHT NOW. I love my car, she’s great, but its going to be time very soon for me to get another one, a shiny new toy ;)

4. A New Tattoo

I’m always always always down for a new tattoo ;) I have 13 but I’m sure there will be others coming soon. Like a full sleeve. And a half sleeve. Another thigh tattoo. I’m all over this.

3. PS4

Don’t get me wrong, I adore my PS3. I would totally stick with that because its in perfect condition, really. But sometime during the 2015 year (come on, Naughty Dog, let’s get a date nailed down…) the fourth and final installment of the Uncharted video games is coming out and it’ll ONLY be for PS4 so…yeah, I have to upgrade. No way I’m missing out on that thing.

2. Books

Duh. I love books. Its kind of a hard thing to wish for though. Because I always want books in my life but I feel really weird about letting people give them to me as gifts. Unless they FOR SURE know what I want. I would rather buy them for myself because I know what I like haha. So maybe book gift cards are a better thing to want?

1. A Literary Agent

In all seriousness, this is my one Christmas wish. I know a lot of agents are out for the holidays so if this were to magically happen, it wouldn’t be until after the holidays. But it is my legit Christmas wish. I really want nothing more right now, NOTHING more, than an agent for The Awakened. I want someone to fall in love with Zoey and Ash and the story and want to help me in allllll the ways to get it out and in your hands, and I would forfeit every single thing above, and a lot of other things just for that one thing. So wish me luck on that :)

 Its that time of year! I’m so excited to be announcing the SECOND annual What A Nerd Girl Says Secret Valentine book exchange!

For those of you who have participated before, try you know all the awesome that this is :) Go head and skip to the bottom and sign up SOON!

For those of you have not participated, welcome! I’m so excited to have you join in on the fun! Its going to be absolutely fabulous.

So basically, it goes like this… you sign up, and you get yourself a buddy. You will be provided with a little sheet of information on them: who they are, where they live, what sort of books they want to read, what fandoms they like and information like that. Its YOUR job to create a gift for them. Think a book or two, maybe an extra goodie or two. You ship it off to them and in return, someone will ship something to you!

Before get to that part, I want to just say a few things that are VERY important: 

First off, this is the time table for the exchange: You MUST have your sign up information in by January 6th! You will receive your information about your buddy on January 10th!You will need to send out your package to your buddy by February 13th! Please be aware of this timetable when you sign up! Those who do NOT send the package out by the date without an emergency reason will not be allowed to participate again. 

Tracking information is required when sending your package!

You will spend at the very least twenty dollars on your buddy! You will need to send a 1-3 books and a few goodies. Books CAN be used but must be in VERY good condition :)

This is open internationally but I cannot guarantee that someone else from your country will sign up. If you’re in the UK area, you should be totally fine. Any other country, please be aware that you will MOST likely be shipping internationally!

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART: 

As much as I’d love each and every single one of you to participate, please do not do so if you can’t commit to this. It takes time, money and effort and I want to make sure that everyone receives a gift. A few people last time did not receive gifts and yet they sent them out and that’s unfair. Please be aware that this will cost money to purchase the gift and to ship it out to your buddy. Only commit if you are 100% sure that you can do this! If someone bails again in this exchange, I will no longer have this open to anyone who wants to participate!

Okay, now that I got that out of the way, here is how to sign up: 

Send an email with the following information to whatanerdgirlsays@gmail.com by JANUARY 6TH, in order to participate. If you do not send in the information by JANUARY 6TH, you canNOT participate. 

Your Secret Valentine will be sent out to you by JANUARY 10TH, and you will need to send out your gift by FEBRUARY 13TH.

There are a few more rules that are required, basic things, but those will be sent out in the email when you receive your Valentine.

For now, here is the information that is needed. It needs to be sent in an attachment. NOT in the body of the email but an attachment, that is saved as YOUR full name!

Yes, your full name: First Name, Last Name. We cannot send a package out to “Amy”. It needs to be “Amy Smith”.

This is if you WISH to share. It can help your Secret Valentine get to know you better :)

Your Full Address

Please, please, please double, triple, quadruple check that you send this information in correctly. I hope that packages make it to the correct house! Please send it in the format that it would be written out as on an envelope.

All three or two or one of these will work. Please keep in mind: list books that you will NOT be buying in the next month or so. If you buy a book on your Amazon wish list, please remove it ASAP. Make it as easy as possible for your Secret Valentine to buy you a book you do not already own!

Please, please, please DO NOT request hardcover versus paperback. Please do not do that. That is incredibly rude. Your Secret Valentine is putting together an awesome package for you, out of their own pocket, and they may purchase you two or three soft cover books as opposed to one hardcover, in order to make your package that much better. Set aside your book preferences for this, because its a FUN thing!

Shirt Size

There is no guarantee that you will receive a shirt, nor are you obligated to send one! But people love to do so, so I’m finally adding this to the things I need to know! Please inform of your size in mens/womens (or both) AND youth.

Share! Are you a Potterhead or a Shadowhunter? Do you love Doctor Who or Supernatural or Disney, etc? This helps your Secret Valentine find little goodies for you!

If you would prefer not to ship international, please let me know! This is incredibly important. If you don’t let me know, I can’t guarantee you won’t get someone in a different country.

If you are IN a different country, you’ll probably be shipping to another country. I can’t guarantee someone from your country will be participating so please keep that in mind when you sign up.
