Sorry, couldn’t help with the Futurama reference in the title. When you have a boyfriend who watches very little TV, except for Lakers basketball, Arrested Development, Breaking Bad and Futurama, you tend to have it rub off on you a little bit.
Anyway!
So today I woke up with the TOTAL Monday blues. I could NOT fall asleep for nothing last night, and I have class fairly early on Monday mornings AND I need to be wide away today because I need to read and finish Clockwork Princess tonight…and it was just bad. So when I woke up this morning, I was like UGH NO. If it weren’t for the fact that I had a paper due today, I probably would have rolled right over and gone right back to sleep.
But the day started off really well. I was on my break in between classes and I decided to hit up a vending machine for some chips because I was hungry. I had that horrible moment when you think your chips are going to get stuck and then, voila! TWO BAGS! I know, such a small little thing. But it was a little thing and it made me pretty happy.
Then I went to art history class. We had a paper due today, and we were getting our exams back. We took our first exam last week and I was nervous about it. I seriously studied like crazy and I’m always good during a test, but afterwards, I’m a nervous wreck. I always do well, but you know, I’m a worrier so of course I was worried! Well, I got my test back and I got 100%!!!! I am seriously really proud of myself. School doesn’t come as easily to me as it did back in high school so sometimes I lack the confidence, especially since I’m 25 and I’m still not even close to being done with school. It was just another really awesome part of my day. This class isn’t easy so it was a nice accomplishment for me.
But then the most amazing thing in the world happened to me. I got out of class, and turned my phone back on and of course, it started blowing up with text messages and emails. Why is it that when you’re busy in class or work, that’s when everyone decides they need you? Its so weird…Anyway…
I got an email from the teen services librarian, Allison, over at the Mission Viejo Library. She’s the one that’s helped to put together a few of the events I’ve gone to, like Meg Cabot a few years back and Cassandra Clare a couple years ago. I was just there last week for the Lauren Oliver event that I wrote a blog post about it.
Anyway, there’s another Cassandra Clare event this Friday, where she’s going to be appearing along with Maureen Johnson and Sarah Rees Brennan. Of COURSE I am going :D And also the library had a contest. A contest for Cassandra Clare’s biggest. The winner gets to interview Cassie in her BADASS tour bus.
They also get a copy of Clockwork Princess, personally signed. Really super awesome. So anyway, I entered because, well, if you read this blog, you know that I am a HUGE Cassandra Clare fan. I talk about the Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices all the time. I have an unhealthy obsession with Jace Lightwood…and Will Herondale. I WANT to be a Shadowhunter. I have a Fearless rune tattoo on my shoulder. I could go on.
And today I got the email that says I am the winner! I literally squealed! I was already on a happiness high from my exam score and this was just the cherry on top of an already super delicious sundae. I WORSHIP Cassie and I can’t wait to meet her and INTERVIEW her. And you, my lovely readers, will have completely access to that interview, of course! I can’t wait to see what her awesome tour bus looks like, and hopefully I’ll be able to get a picture with her, since the event is so huge that its expected that pictures won’t happen.
I also have a HUGE surprise for you readers that ties along with Cassandra Clare and her book release.
So today, while it started out with some SERIOUS Monday blues, ended up being a pretty awesome day. I am so so so so excited for my interview with Cassandra Clare on Friday and trust me, I’ll be sure to share it all with you guys!
Also, for those of you in Southern Californa unable to make Friday’s event, she will be at the City of Bones panel at WonderCon on March 30th and will also be appearing at the Los Angeles Festival of Books in mid April at USC. Hope to see you all there!
