Top Ten Tuesday – Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of 2020

The Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly challenge post previously hosted by The Broke and Bookish and now hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl. You can follow along for each weekly post here. This week’s post is all about the books coming in at the second half of the year that I’m excited for. I’ve admittedly been SO slow with reading this year but that doesn’t mean there aren’t books coming SOON that I’m not excited for so…

Here we go –

Well Played by Jen Deluca – Out September 22nd

I absolutely ADORED the first book and even though it totally made me miss Ren Faire this year, it also gave me Ren Faire when I couldn’t have it. It made me laugh and the romance was sweet and sexy and I was SO ready for the sequel the second I finished it and was SO sad that I’ve had to wait for this book. I can’t WAIT to read it – Stacey’s story is going to be great.

Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer – Out August 4th

I will fight for Twilight forever, probably, so I’m so excited that after all these years, we finally finally get Midnight Sun. I really really liked what I read on her website, when she had that draft up on there so I’m imagining that with editing and rewrites, its only gotten better. I’ve always thought Edward would have the more interesting story for sure.

Majesty by Katherine McGee – Out September 1st

The first book was easily one of my favorites of 2019 – it just absolutely blew my mind. And it left on such a cliffhanger! I was so frustrated haha, how could you LEAVE it like that? So I’m definitely DYING to see what happens next.

Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer – Out November 3rd

I will basically buy anything that Marissa Meyer writes; seriously if she published a book of her grocery lists, I’d still buy it. I’m SUPER excited for this one because its her first foray into the contemporary world and I have a feeling its going to be SO awesome. Plus, that cover!

Skyhunter by Marie Lu – Out September 29th

I’ll be 1000% honest, I have no idea what this book is about. She announced it fairly recently and it went on my auto-buy because its Marie and I always buy her books. The cover is GORGEOUS and I don’t even have to wait that long for it.

Crush by Tracy Wolff – Out September 29th

I LOVED THE FIRST BOOK. I felt like it was the perfect amount of total unique but also totally Twilight nostalgic and it was so great. I read it in February, right before I visited Seattle and Forks (!!) for the first time and it was exactly what I needed. I was SO excited when they moved up the pub date to this year – definitely am being spoiled with a shorter wait!

Dear Justyce by Nic Stone – Out September 29th

The first book in this series was so hard to read, it was, but it was so great to read as well and so necessary. In the climate we’re in right now, I think its even more relevant than ever. I also absolutely adore Nic Stone – I think she’s wonderful, so intelligent and so funny – and I want to support her in any way, shape or form that I can and I want this sequel.

Early Departures by Justin A Reynolds – out september 22nd

I absolutely adored Justin’s debut novel – it was recommended to me during an interview with Becky Albertalli and I just absolutely fell in love with it. It reminded me of Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver but it was so unique and so emotional and agh, I loved it. I absolutely can’t wait to see what he has done for his sophomore novel, especially since it seems to have a similar theme of repeating timelines! It’s such an interesting way to do a story – I don’t think I’d ever be brave enough to do that but he rocks it!

The Brightest Night by Jennifer L Armentrout – Out October 20th

To be fair…I haven’t read book two yet. I know, I know, I’m the worst. But I am still very excited for book three and maybe with book three coming so soon, I’ll be able to dive in and finally read book 3. You never know! I am a little annoyed that they totally changed the cover for book 3 – what the heck; now they won’t match. But I adore Evie and Luc so I’ll look away just this once ;)

This is All Your Fault by Aminah Mae Safi – Out October 13th

I’ve had this ARC for ages and I’ve been wanting to read this book for soooo long – three girls try to save a bookstore!! – but I’ve been in the worst book slump probably ever and so I haven’t read anything lately. That doesn’t stop me from being super super excited for Aminah’s third book though. She’s amazing and this book is going to be awesome!

Bonus – Benched by Sara Elizabeth Santana – Out September 22nd

Okay yes I’m a total cheater because I decided to do ELEVEN books and one of those books is my own. But I am truly so so excited for Benched to be released this fall – it’s going to be absolutely amazing and I’m so nervous and full of anticipation for its release. I’ve been working on this novel for so long that it hardly feels real that it’s going to be a real book so soon. Make sure to preorder it in ebook and look out for the paperback release on September 22nd!!
