Tuesday Top Ten-Things to Look Forward to in 2013

Happy New Year nerds!!! It’s officially 2013!

Welcome to the first installment of the newly revised Tuesday post. Before I called it the Tuesday Three and it was meant as a post for three things that were on my mind in the nerd week.

And let’s just say that I failed incredibly at it. I don’t even remember the last time I attempted to write a Tuesday Three.

So I amended my blog schedule, viagra which you can see right here, and I changed some things around. Thursday is now the Book of the Week instead of Fridays and Tuesday Three was morphed into the Tuesday Top Ten-where I create a top ten list. The list could be virtually anything I want. It could be my top ten favorite books or my top ten favorite weapons or even my top ten outfits. Its whatever I want to write about that Tuesday.

So this Tuesday, on the very first day of the new year, my Tuesday Top Ten is this:

Things That I’m Excited for in 2013

11. Ironman 3

220px-Iron_Man_3_teaser_poster

Three words: Robert Downey Jr. And Ironman is one of the sexiest superheroes to come out of the Marvel universe in the last year. I have loved the first two Ironman movies very, very much and I am definitely looking forward to checking out this one. Tony Stark is going through a lot more than he was in previous movies, with the aftermath of the attack in the Avengers on his mind. Someone is ruining his personal life and he’s determined to get down to the body of it. Should be pretty badass and I cannot wait to see it. It hits the theaters May 3rd so its coming up quickly.

10. The Moon and More-Sarah Dessen

It has been nearly two years since Sarah Dessen hit us with a book, What Happened to Goodbye, and in all honesty, this was not one of my favorites by her. Along for the Ride, the book before that, was wonderful and I loved it so I was slightly disappointed in What Happened to Goodbye. Now that its been two years and Dessen is finally putting out a new book, The Moon and More, I’m hoping that she has written another wonderful novel. In very typical Dessen style, she writes of Emaline (she always chooses such unique names) living in the beach town of Colby and the summer before college and how it transforms her characters. I hope that this one will be fun, and unique to read and not the same story we’ve read before. This book will be out June 4th, 2013.

9. Meeting Cassandra Clare and Lauren Oliver

Picture 6

Okay, I’ve already met Cassandra Clare, two years ago with Holly Black. But back then, City of Lost Souls, Clockwork Prince and Clockwork Princess wasn’t out yet! Which means that there are three books of hers that have no personalized autographs from her! This is a travesty! Haha, no, really I’m stoked to see her again. She was fun and insanely nice the first time around and I’m sure she will be the second time around…and I’m dying to show her my Fearless rune tattoo. I’m also looking forward to meeting Lauren Oliver, the author of Before I Fall and the Delirium trilogy. Before I Fall is a wonderfully, fantastic book and the first book in the Delirium trilogy was equally awesome. The second book, Pandemonium, wasn’t as good and I’m hoping the last book, Requiem, makes up for that. Then I can go to her meet-and-greet and throw tons of compliments her way. This will be happening in March.

8. The Sea of Monsters

Anyway who actually sits down and claims the first Percy Jackson movie to actually be good. It wasn’t the worst movie ever made but it definitely didn’t do the first book of a great series justice. I honestly was completely surprised when I found out they would be doing The Sea of Monsters. Now, I haven’t heard much about it yet; just have seen some pictures. I’m glad Annabeth finally has blonde hair, and I’m pretty into Tyson. This is the movie where the Golden Fleece will be found and, just like any other Percy book, its full of adventures. I am looking forward to this movie because I love the Percy Jackson world but I am sincerely hoping that this movie doesn’t disappoint like the first one did. This hits theaters August 16th.

7. The Last Divergent Book-Veronica Roth

Okay so this book doesn’t even have a title, let alone an actual release date. There’s literally no information on this book whatsoever. However, the second book in the series, Insurgent, left off on such a cliffhanger, leaving all the fans wanting to smack Ms Roth in the face. I’m just kind of looking forward to seeing how exactly this plays out in the books. The society that was built up, the society that we came to know in the first book, is falling apart and who knows what will happen to it or what will replace it. Its rumored that this will be hitting bookstands in September of 2013 but nothing has been even the slightest bit confirmed. Keep in mind that the image above is fan made, it hasn’t even been confirmed that the title of the book is Convergent.

6. The House of Hades-Rick Riordan

For anyone who is a Percy fan like me, and a Percabeth shipper like me, The Mark of Athena was SO much fun and insanely heartbreaking. Percy and Annabeth have a fantastic relationship, one that girls should actually pining after, not the relationships of Twilight. And major stuff is going down in this series, the end of the world kind of stuff and only Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Hazel, Frank and Leo can save it. Just when things start to look up, and Annabeth has found the Mark of Athena, the long lost statue of Athena that needs to be returned to Greece, everything goes to HELL, literally! We leave off the Mark of Athena with Percy and Annabeth being dropped into the deepest depths of Tartarus, with a promise from Nico to meet them on the other side. WHAT THE HECK? I was so, so bummed out. Now I can’t wait until The House of Hades comes out this fall, though the exact date has not been announced. Keep in mind, again, that the image above is fan made.

5. Hunger Games: Catching Fire

215px-THGCF-teaser

Lets be honest: in the case of Suzanne Collins and the Hunger Games, the books did NOT get better as you read them. The Hunger Games was fantastic, Catching Fire was good, and entertaining and Mockingjay was super disappointing. However, I did enjoy the first Hunger Games movie, though it didn’t do completely justice to the book, and I am hopeful that Catching Fire will be as big as Hunger Games was. The best part of Catching Fire is being able to finally see my favorite Hunger Games character, Finnick Odair, the sexy sexy former tribute from District 4. Sam Claflin wasn’t exactly what I pictured when it came to his character, but I have faith, just as I have faith in Jena Malone as Johanna Edwards, the fiery tribute from District 7. This hits the theaters in November, on the 23rd, too much time away for me to begin to count. Sigh.

4. City of Bones Release

220px-The_Mortal_Instruments_-_City_of_Bones_Poster

Obviously I cannot wait for this movie to hit the theaters. I am DYING for it to come out. The Mortal Instruments is one of my favorite book series of all time (have I mentioned the tattoo…I don’t think I have) and I can’t wait to see the book that started it out on the big screen. I have faith in Lily Collins as Clary Fray and Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace Wayland, though those two were DEFINITELY not the ones that I’d ever thought for the parts. But you also have the awesome Robert Sheehan as Simon Lewis, the adorable Kevin Zegers as Alec Lightwood, the sexy Aidan Turner as Luke Garroway, Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Valentine Morgenstern and the insanely beautiful Lena Headey as Jocelyn Fray. I am sincerely nervous about it as well, nervous that it’ll either be absolutely horrible and embarrasingly bad, or it’ll be very great and then suddenly everyone in the world will love it. The life of a fangirl. This movie hits theaters August 23rd, 2013.

3. The Desolation of Smaug-The Hobbit Part 2

Martin-Freeman-Bilbo-Baggins-photo-Desolation-Smaug-300x199

The Hobbit was EPIC and this time around, we are going to start to see some major things go down. The dwarves, Bilbo and Gandalf are on the back stretch of their journey and they leave off the first movie, believing that the worst is behind them. Oh, those poor dears, how could they possibly think that? The worst is yet to come and the worst includes a face to face encounter with the dreaded dragon himself, Smaug, voiced by Sherlock himself, Benedict Cumberbatch. Oh yes, and we get to see Aidan Turner as Kili the dwarf again. Its going to be absolutely fantastic, or so I hope and I cannot wait for it. It makes me a little confused on whats going to happen in the third installment since I believe the showdown between Bilbo and the dwarf happens in this movie. Very confusing…but still enough to make this girl very, very excited for this movie to come out. Unfortunately that means I have to wait until December 13th to watch it.

2. Clockwork Princess Release-Cassandra Clare

6131164

Finally, the conclusion to the Infernal Devices trilogy. After the original publication date for this novel was postponed from December 2012 to March 2013, I am ready for this book to finally come out already. There is so much that is left unsolved at the end of Prince and there’s a huge problem between Tessa, Jem and Will (a love triangle that, for some reason, I can actually stand). What is going to happen to everyone? What is the story with Will’s sister, Cecily, suddenly showing up at the Shadowhunter home? What on earth is going on? Will Tessa marry Jem, or change her mind and end up with Will? Will Jem die, after so many years of dealing with his affliction? What is finally going to happen with the Magister and his army of automatons?  There are so many questions to be answered and I cannot wait to read them when this book comes out in March. And perhaps with this release, it means the City of Heavenly Fire and the first Dark Artifices book will come sooner rather than later. This book hits the stores March 19th, 2013.

1. The return of Doctor Who, Series 7

series-7-part-2-what-we-know

Do you how long it has been since I’ve seen a new Doctor Who episode that wasn’t the Christmas special? September! September, when Amy and Rory got caught in the crossfire of the Weeping Angels and retired as the companions to the Doctor. Now, we had a so-so Christmas special that did leave us wondering who the hell Clara Oswin Oswald is and how the Doctor is determined to figure that out. I can’t handle not knowing whats going to happen next. Sometimes I wonder if it was just better off to deal with books, where I could keep reading and no one could really tell me to stop. Now, I’m forced to wait until APRIL for Doctor Who to come back into my life. My two hearts hurt at the thought of it and I’m dying to find out what kind of adventures the Doctor will get involved in next, and I’m excited at the anticipation of a new companion, a mysterious new companion. Why can’t it be April yet?

What things are you most excited for 2013? I’d like to hear about them, because, who knows? Maybe I’ll be excited for them as well! As always, share in the comments!

I think the Hunger Games trilogy got better from book to book. Catching Fire should be an interesting movie. It’ll definitely be interesting to see what gets cut out of the movie.

Insurgent was way better than Divergent. I didn’t really care for Divergent. I’m concerned about the cliff hanger though. I’m not sure where the series is going.

The biggest thing I’m looking forward to (so far) is Gallifrey One. It’ll be my first Doctor Who convention, and I’m sure it’s going to be a weekend of epic awesomeness.

That’s really interesting that you thought Hunger Games got better, most people I’ve talked to feel opposite. I’d like to hear more why you feel that way.

Insurgents cliffhanger to me felt like it could mean an awesome finish in the third book or a sloppy mess if it gets out of hand.

I forgot that I was going to Gallifrey One! I cannot wait for that, it’ll be my first time as well
