Tuesday Top Ten-Top Fictional Families

So I gotta give credit where credit is due: my dad totally came up with this week’s Tuesday Top Ten, again. I am seriously running out of ideas. Well, I guess that’s not true. I always have ideas but they are usually book related. I am trying to do my best to expand myself into movies and TV shows and all of that, and the best way to start is through the Tuesday Top Ten.

So here ya go everyone. Here is the Tuesday Top Ten, where I share all the fictional families that I think it’d be pretty cool to be a part of!

10. The Bennetts-Pride and Prejudice

Okay, there’s a huge part of me that’s like, do I really want to have FIVE sisters? I already have two sisters who, yes I love, but they drive me absolutely bonkers! We fight over clothes and make-up and who gets time in the bathroom and all kinds of fun stuff like that. Do I really want to deal with Jane, Elizabeth, Lydia, Mary and Kitty Bennett? And the answer to that question is: HELL YES! I LOVE the Bennett family, I absolutely adore them! I love that no matter how crazy life gets, and it gets CRAZY, they love each other so much. Jane and Elizabeth are really the only normal ones. Lydia and Kitty are just silly as hell, and fairly stupid at times too, Mary is a serious introvert, Mr. Bennett is social awkward and Mrs. Bennett is just NUTS. But they make for a realistic and fun family, and it all ends happily in the end and I just absolutely adore them. I’d be a Bennett, for sure!

9. The McFlys-Back to the Future

I’m not going to lie, there is a HUGE part of me that wants to be part of the McFlys because their last name is seriously cool. I have no idea why I think that, but I would totally be down to be Sara McFly. And maybe if I was a McFly, my cool older brother Marty would totally take me on cool time traveling adventures, and I’d totally get to see him save our parents marriage, and make it THAT much better. I don’t know, I just always liked how they were a loving family, and that even though Marty going back in time changed some stuff, they still remained a super loving family, and I love how at the end, George Sr is a badass dad, and Lorraine is super hot mom, and for some reason, Marty’s brother works in an office but still lives at home, and its just awesome.

8. The Stark Family-The Song of Ice and Fire

Okay, this is totally not the best family in the world to want to be part of. For one thing, pretty much everyone in this family either dies or gets into a seriously precarious situation. Also, if I was a Stark, I couldn’t really make out with Jon Snow, because even though he’s a bastard, he’s still technically your brother by blood. Sigh. But seriously, I love fantasy novels like this, and I think the idea of living in a castle, with holdings and both learning to be a lady and learning to use various weapons would be awesome. I think the Starks are a great family, you know, before everything goes to hell. I think they all love each other, and they support each other, and they have such good values, and I think Ned and Cat take care of their children. And okay, all the Starks, including the unofficial one, Jon Snow, get these super awesome direwolves! I want a direwolf! They are so cute when they’re little pups and they grow up and they are connected with each kid, like Ghost is to Jon. I just love it. I can’t handle it. I would be  a Stark.

7. The Bluth Family-Arrested Development

I seriously thought about saying, look at this amazing family portrait. Really, this picture says it all. But I’ll write a little more because that’s unfair. I love the show, Arrested Development (thanks baby!) and I love that theme boils down to family, family, family but its done in SUCH a hilarious way. There is hardly a moment while you are watching this show and watching this family interact that you don’t laugh. They are literally the most ridiculous family to ever exist. The criminal father. The drunk mother. The kind of stupid magician brother. The naive, shopaholic sister. The even more naive, probably gay brother-in-law. The cousins in love. Its just a laugh factory the entire ride, and its never a dull moment. I swear that’s why Michael Bluth sticks around, just to be a part of the hilarity of his family.

6. The Baggins-The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings

I want to be a Hobbit! I’m already short as it is, and okay, I don’t have hairy feet because that’s just gross but I would make a seriously awesome Hobbit. I love to eat and I love to have a good time, and I would seriously love to go on adventures like Bilbo and Frodo do. I have the adventurous spirit in me, which means I’m already fit to be a Baggins. I mean, obviously, the Baggins have the BEST life, or at least these two do. And okay, Frodo has the most ridiculous burden as the Ringbearer and its not easy, and Bilbo almost gets killed by pretty much every creature possible in Middle Earth while helping Thorin and company, but come on, ADVENTURE! Plus, they have super cool friends (Thorin, the dwarfs, Gandalf, Merry, Pippin, Sam, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli…) and they live in little hobbit holes. I seriously think hobbit holes are one of the COOLEST houses to exist in fictional world. No lie. I want one. I would love to live at Bag End.

5. The Skywalkers-Star Wars Saga

I couldn’t find a good picture of the Skywalkers, because let’s face it, they aren’t exactly the happiest family in the world and then I found this picture, couldn’t stop laughing and voila! There ya go! I don’t think I’d want to be really part of the family that is here, but I would like to be a Skywalker. Look, they are seriously badass and powerful, and they are capable of so much. Anakin/Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker are both trained late as Jedis and are incredibly powerful as Jedis. And my girl, my best girl, Princess Leia, who I wanted to be for so much of my life, is a Skywalker, and if you’ve read the books, she gets even MORE awesome. If you were going to be a Jedi Knight, and be part of that world, the Skywalkers are TOTALLY the way to go. Plus their last name is also really awesome too. Sara Skywalker :) I like the ring to it.

4. The O’Haras-Gone with the Wind

I am so down to be an O’Hara, mostly because I totally want Scarlett as a sister and Gerald as a dad. I love both of them because of the Irish streak to their nature. While Ellen, Suellen and Careen all stick to being good Southern ladies, the honor and pageantry of the South doesn’t quite time the fiery father and daughter and I love that. They are my two favorite characters in the novel, plus Rhett Butler. I love that they try to blend in, and they manage to be a part of it but they aren’t ever full integrated into that lifestyle. They’re all ambitious and fiery and wonderful. Plus they live at Tara, which is so beautiful, too beautiful for anyone to handle, and I love those dresses. Scarlett’s dress at the Twelve Oaks barbecue…I love it so much. I would love to be part of that family to be part of that Southern culture, and to wear those pretty dresses, and go to parties where you could dance and all of that. I love it.

3. The One-Hundred Acre Woods Family-Winnie the Pooh

Winnie the Pooh is one of the most amazing animated features ever. I have a ridiculous obsession with Winnie the Pooh and I would seriously love to live in the 100 Hundred Acre Woods, where I could have adventures with the awesome stuffed animals that live there. I would feel bad for Christopher Robin though, because no lie, I would so try to replace him. I would be like, these animals love more now Christopher, what you going to do about that?

Wow, I’m kind of evil. But seriously, I loved these movies as a kid and I super love them now, and I loved the new movie they released in 2011, and I would love to have Winnie the Pooh in my life. I know they aren’t a technical family but they are :) They love and support one another, and put up with each other’s flaws and come on, Winnie the Pooh is awesome. His lack of a big brain makes for some silly and lovable moments. I want my own little Pooh Bear.

2. The Lightwoods-The Mortal Instruments/The Infernal Devices

The only problem with being part of the Lightwood family would be that I couldn’t date Alec or Isabelle. But then I couldn’t do that anyway because Izzy is perfect with Simon and Alec is gay. And I can still have Jace…even though I think of him as a Lightwood, too. Well, damn. Haha. I want to be a Lightwood because I think they are the MOST badass family in the Shadowhunter world. Gabriel and Gideon Lightwood in the Infernal Devices and Maryse, Max (cries), Alec, Isabelle, Jace…they are all such badass Shadowhunters and I want to be part of that family. Plus there symbol is fire (still working on getting a Lightwood ring from Vivi Hebel’s Hebel Designs!) I want to be a Shadowhunter so badly and I admire all the Lightwoods so much so if there was a Shadowhunter family that I’d be a part of, it would be the Lightwoods. The Herondales are a close second but always, always the Lightwoods. Then I could live in the New York Institute :)

1. The Weasleys-Harry Potter series

My dad and brother say that I’m totally biased in my Top Ten Lists because I usually choose Harry Potter in some form for number one. Well, Harry Potter is my number one fandom, easily. There’s a reason why I have four tattoos. So of course they’re going to end up in the number one spot most of the time. And here’s the thing. I love the Weasleys. I love that they love each other and they are so close, and they do so much together, and for each other. But I think it just reminds me of my own family. No matter how much money the family has, and like the Weasleys, we’ve never had a lot, they are still able to be so happy together. Sure, money can be a sore issue but they have each other and they have crazy adventures and they drive each other insane, and basically sleep on top of each other, and its just awesome. Its my family; we only have one less kid than the Weasleys. Plus, if I was a Weasley, I would be able to live in the Burrow, which is the coolest house in the world.

I have to agree with your top 2. Especially the Weasley’s. Having 2 red headed children that bicker like crazy. I can close my eyes and imagine!

I would LOVE to Marry into the Lightwoods. To bad I’m not Alec’s type!

    • Sara says:

You are SO right. I would definitely marry into the Lightwoods. Alec doesn’t really go for girls but maybe I can make Isabelle like girls ;) Isabelle is one of my top crushes, and Jemima is beautiful, and hey, gay marriage is legal in California!
