Waiting on Wednesday (26)

Today’s Waiting on Wednesday is the sequel to Rainbow Rowell’s Carry On, Wayward Son. Its amazing that what started as a fan fiction based off a fictional fantasy series written by a fictional character became an actual book that we love. I think Simon Snow genuinely felt like a Harry Potter fan fiction when you read it in Fangirl and I know I wanted to know more and Carry On was truly fantastic and I am so excited to get more of Simon and Baz in Wayward Son!

Title: Wayward Son

Author: Rainbow Rowell – Her Website

Published By: MacMillan

Publishing Date: September 24th, 2019

Pages: 416

Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy

Summary:

The story is supposed to be over.

Simon Snow did everything he was supposed to do. He beat the villain. He won the war. He even fell in love. Now comes the good part, right? Now comes the happily ever after…

So why can’t Simon Snow get off the couch?

What he needs, according to his best friend, is a change of scenery. He just needs to see himself in a new light…

That’s how Simon and Penny and Baz end up in a vintage convertible, tearing across the American West.

They find trouble, of course. (Dragons, vampires, skunk-headed things with shotguns.) And they get lost. They get so lost, they start to wonder whether they ever knew where they were headed in the first place…

With Wayward Son, Rainbow Rowell has written a book for everyone who ever wondered what happened to the Chosen One after he saved the day. And a book for everyone who was ever more curious about the second kiss than the first. It’s another helping of sour cherry scones with an absolutely decadent amount of butter.

Come on, Simon Snow. Your hero’s journey might be over – but your life has just begun

Why I’m Waiting:

Fangirl is easily one of my favorite books on the planet. I fell in love with Simon Snow and Baz because they are Harry and Draco and I used to write Drarry fan fiction when I was younger so I totally got where Cath was coming from. I loved reading the tidbits from the “real” books and the various fan fictions that Cath writes and I really wanted more and I was excited when Carry On came out. It was so fun, it was like a really amazing Harry Potter fan fiction and I can’t wait to read more in Wayward Son. I love the humor, I love the fun twist Rainbow gives to this magical world and I just can’t wait to read more. Its going to be SUCH a blast!
