Today’s Waiting on Wednesday post is about a debut novel coming out this summer! I was lucky enough to get my hands on an ARC and, it seems to me, that this book is going to be a serious hit when it comes out. This book was a literal bid war between publishers and its a DEBUT! I’m excited to dive in.

Title: There Will Come a Darkness
Author: Katy Rose Pool – Her Website
Published By: Henry Holt Books for Young Readers
Publishing Date: September 3rd 2019
Pages: 496
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
Summary:
The Age of Darkness approaches.
Five lives stand in its way.
Who will stop it… or unleash it?
For generations, the Seven Prophets guided humanity. Using their visions of the future, they ended wars and united nations―until the day, one hundred years ago, when the Prophets disappeared.
All they left behind was one final, secret prophecy, foretelling an Age of Darkness and the birth of a new Prophet who could be the world’s salvation . . . or the cause of its destruction. As chaos takes hold, five souls are set on a collision course:
A prince exiled from his kingdom.
A ruthless killer known as the Pale Hand.
A once-faithful leader torn between his duty and his heart.
A reckless gambler with the power to find anything or anyone.
And a dying girl on the verge of giving up.
One of them―or all of them―could break the world. Will they be savior or destroyer?

Why I’m Waiting:
I first heard about this book from my quarterly MacMillan update and it sounded amazing. Boasted as a fantasy debut that caused an all out bidding war with publishers, it has a great cover and I really love the books that Fierce Reads promotes. Then I got my hands on the ARC – yay for winning! I never win anything! – and I really delved into the synopsis and…guys, it just sounds so fantastic. It has that ensemble vibe of Six of Crows and it feels dark like Throne of Glass and An Ember in the Ashes. I think its going to be great and I think Katy Rose Pool is going to be a name that we all know very very soon. I am lucky enough to not have to wait until September 3rd but seriously, the preorder links are above. Jump on that!
