This week’s Waiting on Wednesday is the adult debut of one of my favorite fantasy authors, Sarah J Maas. Now, if you’ve read the Throne of Glass or ACOTAR series, you know that Sarah rocks fantasy and already has a very adult book. In fact, I think if it weren’t for the fact that her characters are young, they’d be shelved on the regular fantasy shelves. So its really no surprise that she is taking the plunge into adult fiction and I’m super stoked to follow her there.

WHY I’M WAITING:
I’ve said it a million times over the past near 8 years of blogging but…I don’t tend to like adult fantasy. Its just so BORING. I struggle because most often its written by old, white men who just need to get to the point but they love to hear themselves talk so we just never get to the point. However, lately I’ve found myself reading adult fantasy more by female authors and absolutely loving it. Add in the fact that I adore SJM to the ends of the earth and that she writes amazing fantasy fiction and I’m all signed up for this. I’m ready to see what she’s really capable of without the limitations of YA fiction – though she definitely crosses those a lot. I like that its similar to what we’ve read from her before but its also very very new as well. I’m excited when an author I love ventures into something new, whether its a completely different genre or a totally different age group, and Im seriously excited for Sarah and her debut adult novel.
