WHY I’M WAITING:
I remember a couple of years ago, attending an event in Anaheim, where Romina was on the panel and there was a moment where all the authors talked about how writing books after the 2016 election was…rough and I can totally understand. A lot of us felt really floored after that election and all the different things that have happened since, especially against immigrants of all countries. I think that this book was the product of not being able to write right away. And I’m 100% here for it. I love that it has a fantasy element to it but I also love that there’s obviously some statements here and I’m here for that. I love that people are using their voices to talk about important things like this and I know things like this are incredibly important to Romina and to me and to a lot of people, so I’m here for a book like that. As a Latina, I’m also just happy when there are more books with Latina characters, from all different cultures, not just Mexican like me. I’m excited for every part of this book and I can’t WAIT to see what Romina has to say.
