Overturning Roe Vs Wade – Nerd Girl Is Ready to Rage

This blog has always been about nerd things, mostly books, but this blog has been around for ten years and I’ve never hesitated to share my feelings about the things going on in our world. As much as I love to escape real life and disappear into fictional and fantasy worlds, I still always have my feet firmly planted in reality and I am always here to fight for justice and to fight against injustice.

The Supreme Court overturning Roe V Wade was not a surprise. Since the moment that Trump won the election in 2016, since the moment he pushed through Supreme Court justices, we knew that this was on the table. We knew this would happen. However, knowing and seeing it is two different things and finding this out a couple days ago was one of the most devastating days of my life. I spent the day pushing my way through my shift, drinking my sorrows and crying myself to sleep.

Love, Victor Season Three – Thoughts and Reactions

If you didn’t know this, I’m a HUGE Becky Albertalli fan and have loved the Creekwood universe pretty much since the moment that it existed and I devoured Simon Vs the Homo Sapien Agenda. While I’m still sad that we never got an adaptation of Leah on the Offbeat with Leah and Abby because that book is my jam and absolutely perfection, I’ve still been super happy that the world of Creekwood has continued with the show Love, Victor. Season 3 was just recently released and apparently I’ve been super out of the loop because I had no idea until my sister informed me! I’ve spent an entire day binging the new season and I have a lot of thoughts about it! Let’s dive in!

Ms Marvel Episode Three – Thoughts and Reactions

We have reached the halfway point of Ms. Marvel season one and a lot has happened in episode three to really open up the story and tell us what to expect, what could happen next and where exactly we are going with Kamala’s story and I know I keep saying it, but I’m super enjoying it, guys. I’ve already been a huge Ms. Marvel fan for ages. I finally got a new shirt this week – took forever to get here – and I managed to track down Ms. Marvel in Avengers Campus at work and I was totally stoked.

I’m Stuck in An Endless Loop of Re-Watching and Re-Reading!

Recently, I’ve been watching Criminal Minds for the first time. I’m a huge true crime kick – I’ve always been fascinated by it and read a lot of true crime novels growing up since it was something my mom read and young adult novels weren’t totally a thing for me growing up. I’ve been pretty much exclusively listening to True Crime Obsessed, Once Upon a Crime and Crime Junkie. I knew Criminal Minds was this insanely popular show, spanning years and years of new episodes and stories, and I fell in love with it.

I’m currently on season 12 and I had to take a break from it. Partly because, I mean, well, I’m in season 12 but also because it was getting overwhelming for me to watch and I almost dreaded watching it. The last few episodes that Derek Morgan, played by Shemar Moore, was in before he left was so emotional for me and I had to stop. Then Aaron Hotchner disappeared off the show due to some issues with the actor and I just couldn’t handle it. So I decided to take a break!

And I went to an old staple that I’ve watched about a million times – The Vampire Diaries.

And it really got me thinking about re-watching and why we do it so much.

My Husband and I Got Matching Nerdy Tattoos!

Hello my friends! If you know anything about me, or have followed me over the past ten years, you know that I have a fair amount of tattoos and that most of them are nerd related in some way. I have a ton of Harry Potter tattoos, some Mortal Instruments, a Divergent, Vampire Academy, Six of Crows, Lunar Chronicles, Captain Marvel, Star Wars, Studio Ghibli and so many more. I love getting tattoos and I love my tattoos and I love showing my love for these stories on my body permanently.

My husband and I had talked about getting matching tattoos when we got married and one of the ideas that I had had was the wedding rune from the Shadowhunter chronicles. I didn’t think that my husband would go for that LOL! He attempted to read the first Mortal Instruments book ages ago and couldn’t get into it and I wouldn’t want him to get something on his body that he didn’t have a special connection to. Maybe one day…
