One of the best parts about running this blog is having the ability to meet some really cool people, and some of the coolest people that I have met have led me to really cool blogs. I’ve said it before, no one’s blog is 100% original but everyone’s voices are different so there are blogs that I love to read because I love the writer, and I love the passion that they show for what they are writing. They are fun and interesting to read and they inspire me to get better and better in my blog.
So I decided to do a feature (inspired by Megan at the Nerdy Girlie’s Geek Girls Gab), where I profile the bloggers that I love. Not only do I get to find out more about them, but I also get to share them with you guys! Most of the bloggers that I follow are like me, nerd girls, fan girls and they enjoy the same things as me, and you! Every blogger that I profile is one that is super important to me and I urge you to check them out!
If you are interested in being featured on the Blogger Spotlight, feel free to contact me, please! I would love to hear from you, to feature you on the blog and to help spread the word about it!

Sara: Tell me a Little Bit About Yourself:
Shannon: Oh gosh, I’m terrible at these! Let’s see…I’m 27 years old and married to the best guy alive on the face of the planet. We have a puppy named Rue (yes, after Rue from The Hunger Games) who is totally our baby. No human babies yet…frankly, I’m not sure how Rue would handle not being the only little love of our lives, hehe. I currently work for the US Government in the Department of Defense but I can’t tell you what I actually do because secrets. I’m pretty much just your everyday book nerd – I’ve been reading since I was old enough to know how. I’m not really sure where that came from because no one else in my family really enjoys reading, especially not to the extent that I do. My oldest brother comes closest (and perhaps that’s where I picked it up – I do have a distinct memory of him teaching me how to write in cursive when I was about 5) but it’s weird because all he reads now are magazines (mostly about guns and hunting). I can’t remember what he read when we were younger…maybe it’s always been magazines…or maybe at one time he read, you know, books. But I don’t know. Anyway, somewhere along the way I got hooked and have been ever since. For the last few years of my life I’ve been far too busy with school and work to read near as much as I want/used to and let me just tell you, THAT SUCKS. Hopefully that will be changing soon though! When I’m not fangirling over books (and their authors) I can be found enjoying music, playing video games, or pretending to be the most awesome person in the world.
Sara: Tell me about your blog:
Shannon: Twilight Sleep is where I share my love of books (and sometimes other things) with anyone who will take the time to read! I mostly discuss YA books but you’ll find middle grade and adult books thrown in there as well. I also enjoy hosting giveaways and just generally geeking out with other people who love books like I do!
Sara: What inspired you to start your blog?
Shannon: I had gotten to a point where I was very very stressed and I wanted a hobby that would let me relieve some of that stress and do something I love. I’d been blogging for years but just personally – I didn’t want to go back to that but I did enjoy getting to interact with other people about our lives and hobbies and things. I’d been wanting to get back into reading as well and one day the idea just hit me: why not start a blog about the books I read?? So I did. I had NO IDEA what I was getting myself into, though! It’s been a lot of work, especially for someone who had a lot on her plate anyway. But I’ve met some amazing people and had some awesome times so it’s definitely been worth it. :]
Sara: What is your favorite nerd memory?
Shannon: Probably meeting Jessica Brody and Leigh Bardugo on the Fierce Reads tour this year! That or my 4th birthday party, which featured so much Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle awesomeness it was unreal.
Sara: What are you most looking forward to, as far as new books/movies/etc?
Shannon: I’m dying to read Cress, the third book in the Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer! (If anyone has an ARC they are willing to loan, PLEASE contact me!! I promise I’ll return it!) Also looking forward to Antigoddess by Kendare Blake, Paranoia by J.R. Johansson, Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor and *deep breath* THE RETRIBUTION OF MARA DYER BY MICHELLE HODKIN. *freaks out* I can’t wait to see THG: Catching Fire movie, but I’m rather unenthusiastic about some of the other book-based movies coming out soon…
Sara: As my blog is mostly about books and reading, what are some of your favorite books or authors to read?
Shannon: Ooo, well I love pretty much anything by L.J. Smith and Jessica Brody. I’m a big fan of the indie author E.J. Stevens. I’ve also recently become quite attached to Leigh Bardugo, Marissa Meyer, Heather Anastasiu, Meagan Spooner, and Kelsey Sutton! My top two favorite book series are Harry Potter and The Mara Dyer trilogy by Michelle Hodkin! Also, though I didn’t much care for the Twilight series, Stephenie Meyer’s The Host is a work of art.
Sara: What are some of your favorite blogs to follow?
Shannon: What A Nerd Girl Says, of course! I also love Read. Sleep. Repeat., Oh Chrys!, and Auntie Spinelli Reads, just to name a few.
Sara: Who is your fictional crush (what, we’re nerd girls, we all have one!)
Shannon: Fictional character crush(es)….oooo, let’s see….I’ll try to keep this short: Noah Shaw from the Mara Dyer trilogy, Wolf from Scarlet by Marissa Meyer, and DESPITE HOW UNPOPULAR HE SEEMS TO BE WITH EVERYONE ELSE Warner from Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series!
