Bond! Ironman! Les Mis! Comic Books!

It isn’t even Tuesday yet but I’m bursting with nerdy and fandom awesomeness. In just the last two days, I’ve experienced some super exciting things! There is just always so much going on and so much excitement.

I think that’s one of the best things about being a nerd, is being able to get excited about new movies and new shows and all that. It keeps life exciting.

So my boyfriend and I went to watch Skyfall last night. The new James Bond movie.

I’m not going to sit here and lie and say that I’m a huge James Bond fan. I’m not. I’ve seen my fair share in the movies (my god, Sean Connery was a fine looking man back in the day) and I think Daniel Craig is a good James Bond, though that does have something to do with the fact that he is very, very good looking.

But beyond that, it was a super awesome movie. The plot was exciting, all of the actors were great. It was full of fantastic actors: Judi Dench, Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem, Helen McCrory, and so on. A relatively unknown actor, Ben Whishaw, who played Bond’s assistant, Q, was most impressive in his acting skills…and is very impressive for the eyes as well. He had that nerdy, quirkiness that I love in an actor.

It was action packed but story driven as well. Its no wonder that critics have been praising this movie. Definitely one to go see, seriously.

But some of the best awesomeness were the trailers before the movie.

Ironman 3. I adore Robert Downey Jr and I have a serious soft spot for Ironman. Ironman gave out the same year as The Dark Knight. I remember everyone being like WHOA The Dark Knight and WHOA Heath Ledger as the Joker! And don’t get me wrong, thats a badass movie. But I was like WHOA Ironman and WHOA hot Robert Downey Jr. I don’t care how old he is, he is hot. And he plays Tony Stark so well, and the first two Ironman movies are great, and I loved Avengers! This trailer shows an obvious change in Stark. He is not the man he was before. What happened in New York, with the rest of the Avengers, has obviously shaken him and there is a lot he is going to have to deal with now. This trailer left me breathless and excited. I can’t wait for May 3rd!

I tried to put a link up for the next trailer but it wouldn’t link up. Super lame. I’ll just describe it then…

It was quite a preview, more just an extended look at the movie adapation of the insanely popular Broadway musical, Les Miserables. I ADORE musicals (much to the annoyance of my boyfriend haha) and its a huge disappointment to me that I have never seen this musical on stage! I’ve listened to the soundtrack a million times though and I can’t wait to see this movie! It has amazing people in it: Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Siegfried, Hugh Jackman and so many more. I love the fact that they sang the songs while acting instead of lip synching to a previously recorded soundtrack. Fantastic.

And today, I went to the comic book store grand opening of my good friend Glynnes’ store, Comic Book Hideout.

I am way proud of my friend. In this day and age, people have a hard enough time finding a job, let alone actually opening up a business. It just doesn’t happen anymore. But I am stoked that she was able to do it and it looks GREAT! Wall to wall comics and toys and shirts! She has a comfy sofa with a flat screen TV, playing superhero movies and a couple retro arcade game machines and pinball machines set up. Its a nerd haven and definitely a cool place to hang out.

And I’m just SO PROUD of her. She’s not much older than me and I just think it rocks. What an awesome thing. Definitely click the link above, and check her out and stop by. Its going to seriously rock! :D

Stay tuned for Anime Monday, The Tuesday Three and I’ll review Breaking Dawn Part 2 and the City of Bones trailer. Hope you’re all looking forward to it!

Keep it nerdy :D
