Bookish Survey-From A to Z

These book surveys are WAY fun, website and I’m going to keep sharing them. I hope you don’t mind, approved and you enjoy learning more about the books in my life! I found this over at A Blackbird’s Epiphany!

Author You’ve Read The Most Books From:

Definitely Meg Cabot. Probably because I’ve been reading her for the past 13 years and she has the most books of any of the authors that I read. She’s written a TON of books, and I’ve read all of them, except one.

Best Sequel Ever:

This is really hard. I would say…god. This is really hard. Does Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire count? Because if it does, then I say that. I think its the best of all seven books. Its the turning point of the novels, and it is the foundation of the rest of the books.

Currently Reading:

I am currently reading Unsouled by Neal Shusterman and The Prophecy by Erin Albert, a debut author.

Drink of Choice While Reading:

Water? I really only drink water or gatorade so I don’t really have a preferred drink.

E-reader or Physical Book?

I like both for their different reasons. I like to own a copy of each for each book I own. I love the smell of a physical book, plus I’m more determined to finish a book when its a physical copy because there’s no distractions from an e-reader. But I love the ability to carry around hundreds of books at one time with an e-reader, because I’m a fast reader. I also love being able to start a book when it releases on ebook at midnight, and staying up all night to finish it.

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:

Probably someone like Simon Lewis. I would like to have said that I dated someone like Jace Wayland because he’s just…agh, so irresistible as a book character but Simon is more like the guy I would have dated. He’s goofy, geeky, really smart and fiercely loyal. That’s the kind of guy that I’ve always felt comfortable with.

Glad You Gave This Book A Chance:

Vampire Academy. I am so anti-vampire but I decided to give it a chance because everyone kept pushing me to do it and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. Its so good, and so much better than you would imagine. I’m only three books in though. I need to read 4-6.

Hidden Gem Book:

I would definitely say…hmm, this is hard too. I would say either Cinda Williams Chima’s Seven Realms series or Andrew Smith’s Winger. Both kind of randomly came into my life, and I am so glad for both of them.

Important Moment in Your Reading Life:

My dad buying me my first copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I read it so much that the front cover fell off, and the pages started falling out. It changed me as a reader and a person. I don’t know what I’d be without Potter.

Just Finished:

The last book I finished was World After by Susan Ee, which is the sequel to Angelfall. Definitely a great sequel.

Kinds of Books You Won’t Read:

I normally stay clear of regular general fiction or capital L literature. Its not that I don’t like it, but I read for enjoyment and I don’t tend to enjoy them as much as I enjoy reading YA.

I also tend to stay away from books that have fallen angels in them, or vampires because the stories tend to overlap and be too similar. I also tend to stay very far away from romance books or books that are mostly romance.

Longest Book You’ve Read:

I think Gone with the Wind. Its just a little more than 1K pages.

Most Mentally Stimulating Book:

Mentally stimulating? I think…hmmm, I would say either Struck by Jennifer Bosworth or Unwind by Neal Shusterman. They just make you think. They make you pause and just think. They blow your mind, and I love those kind of books.

Number of Bookcases You Own:

Zero. There’s just no room in my room for bookshelves. I’d imagine that if I did have them, I’d have 3 or 4, maybe more. There’s just books everywhere: in my car, under the bed, on the bed, in stacks around my room, in bins and buckets. I have a book buying problem.

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:

Most books that I’ve read, I have re-read at least once, most likely more than that. I would say the Harry Potter books are the ones I’ve read the most but I re-read everything. I just read too fast to keep buying books all the time.

Preferred Place To Read:

I can read pretty much anywhere, but I prefer reading in bed.

Quote That Inspires You/Gives You All The Feels From a Book You’ve Read:

“No,’ Cath said, ‘seriously. Look at you. You’ve got your shit together, you’re not scared of anything. I’m scared of everything. And I’m crazy. Like maybe you think I’m a little crazy, but I only ever let people see the tip of my crazy iceberg. Underneath this veneer of slightly crazy and socially inept, I’m a complete disaster.”

This is from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I’ve never read a book in my life that just got me like that book did.

Reading Regret:

I feel like I keep picking on her, but The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau. It wasn’t that the writing wasn’t good, because it was. It just bored my to tears. I couldn’t even finish it.

Series You Started And Need To Finish (all books are out in series):

Vampire Academy. I got hooked so fast with those first three books, now I need to buckle down and finish the last three.

Three of Your All-Time Favorite Books:

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling, Trickster’s Choice by Tamora Pierce and City of Glass by Cassandra Clare.

Unapologetic Fangirl For:

Harry Potter. Duh. I go insane for anything Harry Potter. I did not get four HP tattoos for nothing.

Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:

Hmmm. I think I’m really super excited for Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith, Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo and Unforgotten by Jessica Brody

Worst Bookish Habit:

I can’t say. But its bad and I need to stop doing it.

X Marks The Spot (Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book):

I can’t do that haha. I don’t have a book shelf. But the closest book to me is…Slaughterhouse Five. I’m not reading that, of course. My boyfriend is.

Your Latest Book Purchase:

I bought the first three available books in the Unwind dystology by Neal Shusterman to get them signed at his signing on Monday.

ZZZ-Snatcher Book (last book that kept you up WAY late):

Champion by Marie Lu. It downloaded to my Kindle at 11 pm, and so I stayed up until about 2:30 am to finish it. I wanted to finish it. It was a GREAT ending to the series.
