Sara’s Top Ten Favorite Books Read in 2018!

I am very proud of all the reading that I accomplished this year. Last year, I only read 62 of the 100 books I wanted to. At the time that I’m writing this, a few days prior to the end of the year, I am at 103 books so I’m stoked. I reread a lot of books this year and, sadly, there were a lot of books that had been hyped up so much just disappointed me. That being said, here are the ten books that stood out the most to be this year to me! To be clear, these are the ten best books that I read this year, not necessarily the best books that came out in 2018

November Wrap Up and December Goals!

It’s almost the end of the year which means that its crunch time. I’ve set a goal of reading 100 books this year aaaaaaand I’m at 99. I actually did fairly okay with reading in November, considering that most of my energy was spent on NaNoWriMo and my new novel, Legacy, but admittedly I did reread a lot of books. I’m now actively avoiding fantasy – which doesn’t do great for desire to finish the Throne of Glass series haha – since I’m writing one so the focus is now on science fiction and contemporary. Thoughts: Controversy on Twitter Again – Tomi vs Nora

There has been a huge controversy in the book once more and, of course, it took place on Twitter. I have been watching it from the outskirts since I don’t scroll through twitter anymore. (My Instagram and blog both post directly to my twitter and I occasionally will tweet but I am not a fan of this particular social media. I think it’s rather toxic). However, as someone super involved in the book community, especially the YA community, it’s impossible for me to not see these things and I have a lot of thoughts.

Event Recap – Brandon Sanderson Celebrates Release of ‘Skyward’ at Mysterious Galaxy!

Last year, I met Brandon Sanderson for the first time during his tour for the release of Oathbringer, the third installment in the Stormlight Archive. At the time, I was in the middle of the first book. I had read his Reckoners series and the first three Mistborn, so I was definitely excited but I was obviously not in the same realm as his other fans at the event because I was so behind in the Stormlight Archive. That being said, it was one of the BEST events I had ever been to and I wrote a whole blog post on how awesome I truly thought and think Brandon is.

October Book Wrap Up and November Goals!

So…I wanted to read a ton of books in October and I failed miserably at that. Like, really really badly. I hit a really bad slump this month and was just so busy with other things and then I was really sick this month and…yeah, I just read basically nothing this month. I *am* nearly done with Empire of Storms. However, November is NaNoWriMo and I’m hoping to write more than read so…I guess we’ll see what happens! I’m really hoping to get some reading done though…I was on track to do MORE than 100 and now I’m not even sure I’ll reach it!
