Hello! Welcome to the Fandom Foodie Friday! If there’s one thing that always grabs my attention when I’m reading a new book or watching a TV show or movie, its the FOOD. Whether fictional or real, I often am left wanting to try ALL the foods. The only problem – I’m a terrible cook and an okay baker. So I’m taking recipes created by wonderfully creative people from all over the internet and figuring out if a newbie like me can figure them out!
Today, I made homemade cookies that Daemon Black from the Lux series manages to make incredibly sexy. *SWOON*

I love to read about food in books and I love food in movies and TV shows. I’ve always wanted to try making them but I’m honestly a terrible cook – I rarely make anything without heating something up easily in the microwave or the stove. I am not nearly as creative as some of the amazing people on the internet who come up with some amazing fictional food recipes! So I decided to approach it from a different angle – I would find recipes for some of my favorite food in fiction and try them out and share it with you! Are they easy? Are they doable? Did I mess up? Did it taste good?
And, of course, I’ll always give credit to the recipes that I tried!

The moment I knew I wanted to do a Fandom Foodie segment, I knew I would make homemade chocolate chip cookies, just like the ones that Daemon Black eats in the Lux series and teases Katy endlessly about. I don’t know how its possible that an alien who is basically just light makes eating chocolate chip cookies so sexy but he does. Sigh.
You can check out the Lux series by Jennifer L Armentrout here. You can also read my review from 2013 of the first book here.
Okay, most people would find chocolate chips cookies easy to make and they’d probably be right. But I haven’t made cookies from scratch in a very long time so it definitely was going to be an ordeal for me. I made sure both my boyfriend and our roommate weren’t home so if I messed up, no one was witness to my crimes against food.
I took my recipe from AllRecipes, which you can check out here. There wasn’t a specific recipe on the internet for Daemon and Katy cookie so I just tried to find a delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe!

The Ingredients – Sugar, Brown Sugar, Baking Soda, Kosher Salt, Butter, Vanilla Extract, Eggs, Flour, Chocolate Chips.
The recipe I used above called for walnuts but I don’t like nuts in my cookies so I omitted those.
Cost To Me – I already had most of the things in my cupboard because of this segment LOL but I would say between everything, it would be roughly 20-30 dollars.
Time It Took – Roughly about an hour, between making the actual dough and baking the cookies.
The Difficulty Level –
1 out of 5
This was not difficult at all really. The only thing is – and I’ve said it before – I need a hand mixer so badly haha. Mixing sugar and butter without a mixer is just a pain in the butt. Other than that, it really was simple. I definitely need a bigger baking pan. I have a real small one so I was only able to bake about 8 cookies at a time and this recipe makes a TON of cookie so if you have a bigger pan, the time will probably be much shorter since you won’t be baking only a half dozen cookies every ten to fifteen minutes LOL.
The Taste –
3.5 out of 5
My boyfriend and roommate loved them. They ate them all – and there were a TON of them. I don’t know. I liked them but I’m also avoiding sweets because diabetes and that means a lot of times, sweet things can be TOO sweet for me and its awful haha. But I didn’t like them. The chocolate chips were nice and gooey and I liked how lumpy they came out. I felt like it was too much butter and so I may cut back on that next time. The boys told me they were good so maybe I’m just being super hard on myself but I still think maybe 2-3 minutes more in the oven and maybe a little less butter and they would have been perfect.
The End Result –
In the end, I’m really happy with how they turned out. They look delicious and they tasted well enough that my boyfriend and roommate have been inhaling them for a week. I really liked them and I may not have loved them because of my recent aversion to anything TOO sweet or because there was just too much butter. I would definitely make this again because I know I can handle it for sure. I would probably cut the recipe in half since it makes SO many cookies, bake just slightly longer and then cut the butter a little bit. Other than that, I think it would be a cookie that Daemon and Katy would be proud of!
Happy Fandom Foodie Friday!
