32nd Birthday Post: 32 Books That Impacted Me in 32 Years of Life

Happy Birthday to Me! Today I am 32 years old, which sounds kind of crazy in my mind but I don’t feel 32 so there’s that. I feel like I can partly attribute that to the fact that most of my interests are the interests of teenagers – like YA books and movies and scene kid music – so it keeps me young and partly attributed to the fact that I am in better shape than I’ve probably ever been in my entire life.

Today I wanted to share with you guys some books that changed my life. There are SO many books that shaped my life. I’ve been reading my entire life, since I was roughly around 2 years old. Because of that, books are been a huge, huge, huge influence in my life. So to celebrate my 32nd rotation around the sun, I’m talking about 32 books that have made me the person I am today.

These are no particular order but there are definitely ones toward the top that mean more to me, of course, but all of these had an impact on me in some way, shape or form.

Throwback Thursday Review: Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

The Throwback Thursday review is where I take a book I recently reread and review it with new eyes. It could be a book I’m reading for the second, third, fourth or millionth time. Some books haven’t been read in years so its fun to throwback and see if my opinion has changed!

In just about a week, I’ll be heading up to Seattle for my birthday and I’ve never been up there before. In fact, I haven’t been on an airplane in about…12 years? So I’m very excited. One of the days we’re up there, we’ve decided to rent a car and take a drive to Forks, WA to live out my Twihard dreams. Because I’m super in that mood right now, I decided to reread the first book and here’s my first official review of it, EVER.

Please keep in mind that Throwback Thursday reviews are based on reread books. They most likely will contain spoilers as the books have already been released for some time. This is your only warning if you want to avoid spoilers for these books.

Ontario Teen Book Fest 2020 Author and Moderator Announcement!

I am so insanely excited to bring the announcement of the 2020 Ontario Teen Book Fest author and moderator list! I say it every year, and its with great sadness that I say it for the last time this year – this is my favorite event of the year, hands down, and its right smack at the beginning of a crazy book season and its still always my favorite. It’ll be hard to say goodbye this year BUT there are a ton of GREAT authors this year that’ll make a great one to go out on.

A blog tour and giveaway will be coming in the weeks before the event, as per usual!

Five Reasons I’m Obsessed with Disney’s Descendants Right Now

Lately I’ve been seriously obsessed with Disney’s DCOM trilogy, Descendants. If you don’t know what that is, let me tell you! Its sort of a “what happens next” after the happily ever after of the Disney fairy tales that we all know and love. The main characters are Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos – four kids that are the children of villains – Malificent, Evil Queen, Jafar and Cruella de Vil. All of the villains and their offspring live on what is called the Isle of the Lost, cut off from the rest of society. Ben is the son of the Beast and Belle and about to becoming the newly crowned king of Auradon, the kingdom in which the Beasts rules with allll the other fairy tale characters and their children. Ben decides to give a few of the Isle kids a chance to live in Auradon and the story goes from there.

It is directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega – who you might know from his work with Newsies, the High School musical trilogy, Dirty Dancing and more. I adore Kenny and this movie series kept sort of popping up on my radar but I just never took the time to do anything about it. I know that Melissa de la Cruz has also written a book series in tandem with the movies but I’ve never read them.
