I was busy this month with reading, even with the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books in the middle, and with eleven books read, only four of them were rereads! Making progress!
Throwback Thursday Book Review: Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
The Throwback Thursday review is where I take a book I recently reread and review it with new eyes. It could be a book I’m reading for the second, third, fourth or millionth time. Some books haven’t been read in years so its fun to throwback and see if my opinion has changed!
The final novel in the Red Queen series, War Storm, comes out next month in May. I read the first novel and LOVED it, but got stuck in reading the rest when I hit a huge reading slump so I figured I should reread this one before moving on to Glass Sword!
Please keep in mind that Throwback Thursday reviews are based on reread books. They most likely will contain spoilers as the books have already been released for some time. This is your only warning if you want to avoid spoilers for these books.
Event Recap: Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2018!
Having missed last year due to…well, I can’t really remember, after having gone every year for pretty much my entire life, I was so glad to be at USC for the annual Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. Even with YALLWest coming up in a few weeks, I am always happy to be on this campus, to see all the vendors, to run into all my bookish friends and to see many, many authors.
Book Review: Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth
On a planet where violence and vengeance rule, in a galaxy where some are favored by fate, everyone develops a currentgift, a unique power meant to shape the future. While most benefit from their currentgifts, Akos and Cyra do not—their gifts make them vulnerable to others’ control.
Book Review: Son of the Dawn by Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan
The Lightwoods, the Shadowhunters who run the New York Institute, are expecting a new addition to their family: the orphaned son of their father’s friend, Jace Wayland. Alec and Isabelle aren’t too sure they want a new brother, and their parents are not assuaging their fears, too occupied with the dark news that Raphael Santiago, second-in-command of the New York vampire clan, has brought from the Shadow Market.
Throwback Thursday Book Review: The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

Recently I started playing a space edition of Dungeons and Dragons with my boyfriend, who in turn, asked me if I had any good recommendations for some science fiction that takes place in space. The first thing that came to mind was this series and after he started listening to the audiobook of the first book, I, of course, started my reread and this is what is prompting this week’s Flashback Friday!
