Top Ten Tuesday – Books I’d Give Different Titles To

The Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly challenge post previously hosted by The Broke and Bookish and now hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl. You can follow along for each weekly post here. This week’s post is all about the books that I’d give different titles to. I really like this one because, well I’m notorious for judging a book by its title. All the time. I often end up reading a book anyway because someone begs me to but a title definitely can turn me off for a long time.

I tried to come up with ten and honestly, I couldn’t even come up with more than one. Because there was one that popped in my head IMMEDIATELY when I saw this prompt –

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

I love this series so much. I am so incredibly grateful for my best friend, Jade, making me read these 6 years ago when we first met because every time I saw them on the shelf, I rolled my eyes. I hated the covers for one thing – I own the entire series in the new covers LOL.

But that title! It sounds so insanely juvenile and it was coming out at the time when vampire fiction, especially in YA, was all the rage. So in my mind, there was no way that it was actually good. Vampire Academy? SERIOUSLY? Richelle is such a phenomenal writer, I can’t believe that’s the title they came up with. The Bloodlines series has such better titles and I honestly feel that so many people would read the series if it had a better title. Its just horrible. But literally one of the BEST series I’ve ever read, hands down.
