Waiting on Wednesday {31}

Today’s Waiting on Wednesday post is a collaboration between Rainbow Rowell and Faith Erin Hicks and a graphic novel. I’m not usually a big graphic novel person, mostly because I usually read too fast to stop and enjoy the pictures BUT I adore Rainbow which means I’m SO excited for this novel to come out in just a couple of weeks!

Summary:

Deja and Josiah are seasonal best friends.

Every autumn, all through high school, they’ve worked together at the best pumpkin patch in the whole wide world. (Not many people know that the best pumpkin patch in the whole wide world is in Omaha, Nebraska, but it definitely is.) They say good-bye every Halloween, and they’re reunited every September 1.

But this Halloween is different—Josiah and Deja are finally seniors, and this is their last season at the pumpkin patch. Their last shift together. Their last good-bye.

Josiah’s ready to spend the whole night feeling melancholy about it. Deja isn’t ready to let him. She’s got a plan: What if—instead of moping and the usual slinging lima beans down at the Succotash Hut—they went out with a bang? They could see all the sights! Taste all the snacks! And Josiah could finally talk to that cute girl he’s been mooning over for three years . . .

What if their last shift was an adventure?

Why I’m Waiting:

Like I said, graphic novels? Not always my thing but when you put Rainbow Rowell on the cover, I have to read – you guys KNOW how much I adore her. And while Faith is new to me, her artwork looks incredible and she won the 2014 Eisner Award for Best Publication for Kids for her work on The Adventures of Superhero Girl, which I now want to read as well. I love Halloween and I love fall and I love pumpkin patches and I love romance so it all adds up to something that I know I’m going to absolutely adore. I also like novels that center around a particular time of year, like a summer novel or a Christmas novel, and so I’m really stoked about this one since Halloween is my favorite holiday. This might be the first graphic novel I’ve ever been excited for but maybe this will change my mind on them ;)
