Short N’Sweet Book Review: By the Book by Jasmine Guillory

Welcome to the Short N’ Sweet Book Review! For the ten years that I’ve been reviewing books on this blog, I’ve written long, wordy reviews that, let’s be honest, not a lot of people are probably reading. I’ve recently  decided to shorten those reviews and get straight to the point – what is this book about, who wrote it, where you can find and a short review on what I loved, liked and maybe thought could be better.

Today’s review is the second in a series of adult romances, fairy tale retellings in a modern day world, with this one focused on a fun retelling of Beauty and the Beast – By the Book by Jasmine Guillory!

Obi Wan Kenobi Episodes One and Two – Review and Reactions!

This Memorial Day weekend has been a celebration of all things Star Wars. The 25th was the 45th anniversary of the first movie. Friday night, Daniel and I went to Star Wars night at Angel Stadium and the iconic convention, Star Wars Celebration, took over the town all weekend. I went back in 2015 and it was some of the best memories ever. I wasn’t able to go this year, just couldn’t afford it after the wedding, but I definitely had FOMO all weekend, especially with all the crazy announcements coming out.

It’s okay though. Because there was something for all of us that couldn’t be at the convention and that was the highly anticipated premiere of the Obi Wan Kenobi television show.

Experiencing The Legend of Zelda for the First Time!

I grew up a PlayStation kid.

Besides playing the early Pokemon games on my brother’s GameBoy that I begged him to borrow all the time until I got my own, our family never owned any other system. We grew up relatively poor so we never had any of the systems that existed when I was really young, like the Super Nintendo, and our first console was the original PlayStation, which was originally bought because my dad really liked Resident Evil, which is where my own love for the franchise came from. We got the PlayStation 2 as a gift for Christmas or something like that and then I’ve personally owned both the PlayStation 3 and 4. Perhaps I’ll own a 5 at some point but…well I’m not holding my breath for anytime soon haha.

My Super Late Review of Netflix’s Adaptation of “Along for the Ride”

Along for the Ride is easily  one of my top ten favorite books of all time and so when I heard Netflix was doing an adaptation – I was beside myself with excitement. I think Netflix has done a great job adapting some really great YA novels like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and Dumplin’ and even with Shadow and Bone/Six of Crows. I really had a lot of faith in this adaptation. I think that young adult contemporary novels tend to translate better into film and so I was so excited. Nervous, of course, because it’s my favorite Dessen novel and just plain one of my favorite books ever.

I’ve now watched the Netflix movie about four times now and I think its more than past time for me to finally post my review and thoughts!
