It’s Benched Release Day!! {Special Excerpt and IG Live Event Info!}

It’s finally here! After a decade of writing, two years of querying and an intense five months of editing, promoting, and learning the ins and outs of self publishing, Benched is done and its here. It’s finally here and I don’t even know what to think!  I’m excited for it to be out in the world and I also feel that anxiety that no one will like it or it won’t do nearly as well as I hope it will. But I keep reminding myself that I have done everything I can at this point to make it the best book, inside and out, and I’ve done everything I can to promote it – and will continue to do those things – and I can only hope for the best!

I’m looking forward to jumping into book two (whose title will be announced later today) and getting some reading done – its been so long!

But first, let’s celebrate, with a reminder of what Benched is about, where you can get and how to celebrate with me during my IG Live event later!

Waiting on Wednesday {52}

This week’s Waiting on Wednesday is Skyhunter by the wonderful, fantastic, awesome, auto-buy author, Marie Lu. I LOVE Marie, as an author and as a person and I own every single one of her books because I basically can’t function as a human being without having read all of her books. When she announced this book, I was SO excited and the cover is AMAZING! I’m actually currently on the Street Team for the book and am SO stoked to share the official trailer below too!

40 BEFORE 40: WATCHING THE ENTIRE DISNEY ANIMATED CATALOG – THE FOURTH SIX MOVIES

For those of you who may not know, I recently came up with a list of 40 things I want to do before I’m 40 years old, which you can read here. I just turned 32 so that’s 8 years to accomplish these things and I think I can do it. One of those things is watching the entire Disney animated catalog from beginning to end, which is a serious undertaking. It has been made SOOOO much easier since the beginning of Disney+ – at least I have access to them now! I’m planning on writing little short reviews in chunks, five to six movies at a time, so hold on tight, let’s do this!

If you’d like to read the reviews for the first six movies, you can do so here – it includes reviews for Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Pinocchio, Fantasia, The Reluctant Dragon, Dumbo and Bambi.

The second six can be read here, and includes Saludos Amigos, Victory Through Air Power, The Three Caballeros, Make Mine Music, Song of the South and Fun and Fancy Free.

The third six can be read here and includes Melody Time, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and Lady and the Tramp.

This fourth six took ages for me to do but I finally did it and here it is!

Waiting on Wednesday {51}

This week’s Waiting on Wednesday is Well-Played, the sequel to Jen Deluca’s Well Met, a wonderful, sexy and hilarious romance centered on a small town Ren Faire. I LOVED this book and immediately needed book two and was so sad when I realized I had to wait a whole six months for it. I actually just recommended it to my roomie, Chad, who expressed an interest in trying a romance novel and whose favorite place in the world is Ren Faire so I’m anxiously awaiting his thoughts because well, if he doesn’t like it, he’s SO wrong. The sequel comes out in just two weeks – agh, the same day as MY book – and I just can’t wait for it.

Top Ten Tuesday – Books that Little Mexican Teen Me Needed

The Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly challenge post previously hosted by The Broke and Bookish and now hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl. You can follow along for each weekly post here. This week’s post is all about the books that exist NOW but work so great for younger Sara, books that I wish I had had as a younger teen. I could probably write about a TON of books, if I’m being honest, but I’ve actually chosen to write about THREE books, because they are something that I didn’t have as a young teen and really, truly wish that I did. I think these books would have helped me so much in my own identity with race because, as a biracial girl, I’ve struggled with that my entire life. Here we go…

August Book and Blog Wrap Up and September Goals!

Benched comes out in just TWO weeks, exactly, and I’m so excited for it for many, many reasons. One, because this book will FINALLY be out in the world and I’m so insanely excited for it. Its been so long and I’m really just so anxious for it to be REAL, so that all of you can read it and talk about it and get excited for book two, which, admittedly, I really need to start working on…

But I’m also excited for it to release as well because then I can get back to a normal routine of reading and blogging! I know the blog has been SOOO insanely slow lately – I mean, this wrap up is late as hell haha – but I’m hoping once Benched is out, we can get back to normal!
