Blogtober Challenge 2019!

Hey guys! I’m really stoked to share that I’m going to be working my BUTT off this month to take on the Blogtober challenge! I was browsing Twitter and I kept stumbling upon Blogtober so of course I had to figure it out. I failed at finding the origins or any of that but basically Blogtober is a challenge to bloggers – any type of blogger – to post content on their blog every single day of the month. When I first started What A Nerd Girl Says, I had NO problems doing that and I’ve definitely struggled with that over the past few years BUT I’m super happy that I’ve been able to get back to blogging consistently and I’m excited to take on this challenge! Keep an eye out every day this month for content! I’ll be doing normal posts, of course, but I’m going to do my best to have some special ones scattered throughout the month!

Every year, the people of the Protectorate leave a baby as an offering to the witch who lives in the forest. They hope this sacrifice will keep her from terrorizing their town. Xan rescues the abandoned children and deliver them to welcoming families on the other side of the forest, nourishing the babies with starlight on the journey.

The poorer residents look to see if their names are on the list. The wealthier look to see how likely their sons are to survive. And Rhen Tellur opens it to see if she can derive which substances the ink and parchment are created from, using her father’s microscope.

Let’s Talk About Female Superheroes!

Unfortunately, there is no Fandom Foodie Friday today because…well, this week was insane. But instead of that, I’m going to talk about some of the most badass female superheroes that we have out there. Comic books have had a huge jump in popularity ever since Ironman released in 2008 and both Marvel and DC Comics put out movies every year, driving people to the box office. However, we didn’t get a female-led DC movie until 2017 and a female-led Marvel movie until 2019. These characters have existed in the comics for decades so why is it taking SO long for them to get their own movies and shows?! We definitely need to talk about female superheroes more – and here are some of my favorites and some that I hope to become my favorites soon!

Everything I’m Excited To Watch On Disney+!

When Disney announced a few years ago that they would be leaving Netflix, I was definitely sad because I loved being able to watch a great mix of Disney and Marvel and Star Wars basically whenever I wanted. When they announced they were creating their own service, I was excited but also hesitant. Over the past couple years, the announcements of Star Wars TV shows, Marvel TV shows, the entire back catalog of animated films, Disney Channel Original Movies and more – I was 100% sold. I was in for whatever it cost and due to HBO and services like that, I was expecting 15-20 a month. Finding out it was less than $10 was the cherry on top of the already delicious sundae. We all know that I adore Disney
