If there are two things that definitely don’t seem like they go together, it would be nerd and fitness. I can definitely attest to that – a year ago, I had never been an active person, I’d avoided organized sports at every turn and my idea of exercise was racing from one side of a convention center to the other. Of course, all of this changed last May when I ended up in the hospital, was diagnosed with type two diabetes (my blood sugar levels were off the charts!) and told that I needed to make some big changes. My diet took a complete 180 turn, I was suddenly on medication I had to take three times a day and I was giving a little device to check my blood sugar.
The Flashback Friday review is where I take a book I recently reread and review it with new eyes. It could be a book I’m reading for the second, third, fourth or millionth time. Some books haven’t been read in years so its fun to flashback and see if my opinion has changed!
This week’s book is a book I read a few weeks ago when they announced that Netflix was working on a Baby-Sitter’s Club series. I hadn’t read any of those books in ages and I LOVED the Super Specials. I loved that you got multiple points of view and I loved that they were always so over the top and just so fun. I decided to reread the first one, where the baby-sitters go on a cruise and Disney World adventure, because that was one of my favorites when I was younger!
High school senior Cameron Bright’s reputation can be summed up in one word: bitch. It’s no surprise she’s queen bee at her private L.A. high school—she’s beautiful, talented, and notorious for her cutting and brutal honesty. So when she puts her foot in her mouth in front of her crush, Andrew, she fears she may have lost him for good.
Today’s Waiting on Wednesday is the sequel to Rainbow Rowell’s Carry On, Wayward Son. Its amazing that what started as a fan fiction based off a fictional fantasy series written by a fictional character became an actual book that we love. I think Simon Snow genuinely felt like a Harry Potter fan fiction when you read it in Fangirl and I know I wanted to know more and Carry On was truly fantastic and I am so excited to get more of Simon and Baz in Wayward Son!
