My Super Late Review of Netflix’s Adaptation of “Along for the Ride”

Along for the Ride is easily  one of my top ten favorite books of all time and so when I heard Netflix was doing an adaptation – I was beside myself with excitement. I think Netflix has done a great job adapting some really great YA novels like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and Dumplin’ and even with Shadow and Bone/Six of Crows. I really had a lot of faith in this adaptation. I think that young adult contemporary novels tend to translate better into film and so I was so excited. Nervous, of course, because it’s my favorite Dessen novel and just plain one of my favorite books ever.

I’ve now watched the Netflix movie about four times now and I think its more than past time for me to finally post my review and thoughts!

Happy 10 Years, What A Nerd Girl Says!

So I’m technically a day late but that’s okay because yesterday, I spent most of my day celebrating a huge accomplishment!

Yesterday, I celebrated the ten year anniversary of the creation of this blog. I wrote my very first post on May 23rd, 2012. When I started it on a whim, I never imagined that it would still be here, ten years later. It looks different and feels different. I’m not nearly as prolific as I was in those first few years but this blog and everything that has come from it in the past ten years means the absolute world to me.

Can We Stop Being Racist When POC Actors Are Cast?

In the past couple of weeks, there have been some huge casting announcements in two of my biggest fandoms – Doctor Who, for the newest Doctor, and the three main characters for the highly anticipated Disney+ adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I am SO excited for the both of these, as Doctor Who is one of my absolute favorite TV series and I love the entire Percy world so much, and was so disappointed in the two movies that were made so I’m excited (and wary) about the tv show.

There have been HUGE casting news and guys, I’m so excited!

First Thoughts on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (Warning: Spoilers!)

Happy Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Day!

Even though its only been a handful of months since we had our Marvel appetites satisfied with the most recent Spiderman movie, I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say that fans were anxiously awaiting the release of this movie. This movie had its hands in so many previous MCU stories, like the first Doctor Strange movie, Wandavision and What If… and there were so many rumors and speculation on what would happen and who would appear.

What A Nerd Girl Says Gets Married!

Hello my friends!

I know that it has been quite a long time since I’ve been here but I promise you – I have a good excuse!

The thing is – I just got married!

That’s right. On April 9th, we celebrated our five year anniversary together by getting married on the beach near Centennial Park on Coronado Island. It was…perfect. I know probably a lot of people say that but genuinely it was so perfect, from beginning to end and I keep looking at the photos and the videos and reliving every moment. We’ve turned in our paperwork and received our copies of the marriage license and it’s official! I’m a married woman!

Short N’Sweet Book Review: Lore Olympus Vol 1 by Rachel Smythe

Welcome to the Short N’ Sweet Book Review! For the nine years that I’ve been reviewing books on this blog, I’ve written long, wordy reviews that, let’s be honest, not a lot of people are probably reading. This year I decided to shorten those reviews and get straight to the point – what is this book about, who wrote it, where you can find and a short review on what I loved, liked and maybe thought could be better.

Today’s review is a gorgeous graphic novel tackling a modern day tale of Hades and Persephone, an internet sensation, Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe!
